Insane charges for 12 minute call

Hello! I wonder if someone could help here, I've been charged £45.50 for a 12 minute call to Canada. Firstly, I didn't realise it was to a firm based in Canada and secondly I was never advised that these charges would apply for making this call before or during. Do I have any option here to contest the charges?

@Joe227

Not from what you've posted. If you choose to dial a particular number it's not the responsibility of the provider to warn you before dialling. Any unfamiliar numbers you want to dial should be researched before doing so.

Probably not unless Sky feel they want to apply goodwill.

The Tariff is part of the contract and details all costs.

I'm not aware of any cellular company which has a mechanism for doing so.  The number format not being either UK geographic or mobile is supposed to be a clue that normal or inclusive rates aren't going to apply.

@Joe227  You get free calls to numbers in the following range 01, 02, 03 & UK mobile 07, anything outside of that is chargeable and these charges are freely available to all customers.

Sky are under no obligation to remove the charge due to your error.

To call a Canadian number from the UK it has to start with a 00 then a 3 digit area code plus the number, UK numbers don't start with 00.
