I ordered a new phone from sky, but I returned it the next day, but they want to take a payment for it, even though I had an email saying they had received the device

Although you returned it the next day the bill for it will have already been created so this will be refunded as long as you called Sky before returning it so they could then cancel it for you. The refund could take a few weeks to be applied.

Yes I did tell sky I was returning the device.

Keep an eye on your future bills and if you don't see the refund after 3 weeks then you will need to call Sky so they can look not it for you.
