How do I return a tablet that I don't want (its new and sealed and not been opened)
It is great that there is a community of people here doing Skys hard work for them, anyway, I ordered a tablet and wish to return it. When i goto sky.com/returns it very helpfully suggests I get in touch with sky, doesnt tell you or point you anywhere to do this and then points out the procedure when you have done this.
I'm guessing its best to try and use the live chat service and then try to speak to an agent, which from past experiences of going round the houses using the automated chat bot can be very frustrating and time consuming.
Anyway your help is appreciated.

@tomchap You will need to call Sky before you return the device as they will need to start the returns process.
You can call on 150 from a Sky Talk Line or Sky Mobile.
If you haven't got a current Sky Mobile or Sky Talk this link should help:
(UK) https://www.sky.com/help/home Scroll down and click on ‘Need more help’ and it provides a 0333 number
(ROI) on the same link change the flag in the very bottom corner to the ROI flag to obtain an 0818 number.
Stay on the line and don’t hang up if prompted to. Apparently the quieter times to ring are just after 7am or about 9pm.

As long as you’re still within the cooling off period (which is 31 days), you’ll need to contact Sky who will lead you through the returns process. Dial 150 for free from a Sky mobile or from a Sky landline. If you’ve had it more than 31 days you can't send it back without incurring substantial charges. Some more information is available here

Keep any subsequent proof of posting safe and indefinitely and be aware if you order an alternative device you will undergo further credit checks.
