Discussion topic: Getting new handset, but want to keep old sim

I want to get a new mobile phone device for my mum (handset only - no sim plan), but she wants to use her existing sim card, which is with another mobile phone provider. Are the sky mobile devices unlocked for any sim? And if not, can you have the handset unlocked without invalidating manufacturers warranty?

All mobiles provided by Sky come unlocked to any network.
