Downgrade data to 100mb

Hi There,

i currently have a lot of data in my piggybank and would like to downgrade to the free 100mb plan until i have used all of my piggybank data up.  Is this possible?  Seems only to be an option to get the 100mb plan with new phone deals.

Thanks

Hi @paulsafc83  doing what I suggested would allow you to use your piggybank on the 100 sim. Activate it on your account when it arrives, then if you port the old one out that cancels the old sim and plan but not your piggybank. Port the number back in and use your piggybank every month to top up.

To trade in data, if it's allowing on the device you want, login to your account, go to the phone you want to order and on that front page of that device should be (if available) the option to trade in some data to reduce your monthly payments, a little.

Hi @paulsafc83  you are correct it's not possible to downgrade to that plan, you can only get that when ordering a new device.

Thanks for that. Really disappointing that, as was looking to upgrade to a new phone and just use my data banked in the piggy bank. Another example of new customers being able to benefit more than exsiting customers.

There is a slightly complicated way to do this @paulsafc83  if you are ordering a new device then you may have the option to get a 100m sim. If you are offered it you could take it then port your current number to another network on PAYG (can't port from one sky sim to another) then once your 100m sim is activated then port your old number back onto it.

Re: Downgrade data to 100mb

Thank you. It would defeat the purpose a little for me as the idea was to use my banked data on my existing sim contract and just upgrade to a new phone saving on a more expensive data plan until my piggybank data had run out. Nevermind appreciate the advise anyway.

on a side note my next question will

be how to you use your banked piggy banked data against a new phone. Haven't been able to see a way to do that from my account either. Must admit sky don't make the 'upgrade' process simple...it's seems it's essentially just a new contract rather than upgrade.

thanks for all the support so far.

Re: Downgrade data to 100mb

Thanks that's a great tip. Maybe I'll attempt that.

found the piggy bank trade in option - not worth it really as 30gb would only save me about 50p a month.

Yeah @paulsafc83  doesnt save a lot, I think when I did mine it was 60Gig for £2 per month. If you go down the 100m route make sure it's active on your account before porting the old number becsuse if not then the account would close.

Re: Downgrade data to 100mb

Will do thanks. Frustrating this is the route to go down - you would think sky would let you downgrade to the 100mb plan. Thanks for your advice.

Re: Downgrade data to 100mb

You can't do it through the app but can downgrade if you get in touch through chat or phone. Not easy though, should be available on the app!.
