Hi, I have an extra £42 on my bill from the 5/12/2024 when I flew to Egypt. As soon as the plane landed I switched off my data roaming and my mobile data completely, and the internet never worked. Therefore I don't understand what the £42 charge is for.

This where you went wrong as you should have done this before you left the UK because as you have discovered as soon as your mobile connects to a network the charges will start.

Find out moreHi @Ellierobertsonn as stated by @caesarome as soon as you landed your phone has connected and started using data and as you have found it doesn't take long to run up your bill. As you have used the data sky won't remove the charge from your bill.

So £42 is just 20Mb - which can be consumed in a matter of seconds.
Clearly your phone did connect to the local cellular network as they wouldn't be able to bill you otherwise.
