Re: Disable Parental Controls

An update for all,

The issue is with SKY after a long conversation with two of my mastercard companies.

When I use my credit card to make the payment and enter all my details correctly,  it should then take me to the secure feature “mastercard secure code screen” which it does not as SKY's end, this is why the card is declined every time and I get the "oops something has gone wrong" screen as Mastercard are waiting for my secure information.

Executive customer care called me back and to my suprise this time they took the payment via phone for a pound although this then has to be credited to your SKY account and voilà I have proved I am 18. I do understand this is the same for all mobile phone companies.......but SKY your customer journey is not seamless accross your channels and nearly 3 months for a resolution!!

I hope this helps others.

Re: Disable Parental Controls

Hi bilzor

That great news mate, in the past I have tried 3 times to make the payment over the phone with Master card but just with the customer service assistant. And as I've said in my posts it didn't work. I will give it another go today and mention your post, should I have a problem.

Re: Disable Parental Controls

PMSL I have had the same problem been with Sky for over 15 years! You have to be 18 to take a mobile contract out!! You have to be 18 to take a sky TV package out!! You have to be 18 to set a direct debit up with Sky!! Believe it or not you also have to be 18 to have sky telephone and broadband. I have never had this problem with any other mobile network!! This was never told whilst taking the contract out!! Unfortunately I cant leave sky until June but as soon as it comes Im gone!! Someone else can have my almost £300 I pay per month!!

Re: Disable Parental Controls

Just so everybody can call sky out on blatent hypocrisy  . got to prove your age yet can view porn pics through google and can access gambling sites without verifying your age so I'll expect age verification on google and all betting sites from now on as are blatantly 18+ material

Re: Disable Parental Controls

Hi . if ya don't mind me asking do you have sky broadband and if so was there any age verification when you did ? As I'm getting legal advice  about this tomorrow cause my view is if sky won't allow me to prove my age by a possible means available to me and want to treat me as a child then I can walk away from my broadband contract without owing a penny then the onus is on them to prove I am over 18 if they can't I'm gone Scott free and if they can then they have verified my age for me iv already emailed my solicitor about this just waiting for a response so I'll keep ya informed if ya not sorted it by now also ya might want to bring up i n your next conversation with them they will block sites that are meant as 18+ yet as an example if you type porn into google search then go to images they are quite happy to let them show millions of porn images to kids because that doesn't matter if kids see porn pictures as long as they can still pretend they are responsible . if they where then everyone needs age verification to use google from now on

Unfortunately Sky have no control on what you can see on google. If you expect age verification on google ( good luck with that one ) then may I suggest you contact google.

Re: Disable Parental Controls

I know it won't it happen but the point is sky have no control over porn websites but they will block them . and what about gambling websites why are they not age restricted or is that because sky use betting sites for sky sports its hypocritical and no one can say it isn't

Re: Disable Parental Controls

Looks like alot of customers are having the same problem with parental control I don't own a credit card but I would have thought that a huge company like sky would have alternative ways . I said about even if you can email them a copy of passport or driving license but no only a credit card will do. I'm lucky enough to still be in the 31days were I can return the sim card which I'm doing. I've also ordered broadband and that doesn't show then I'm over 18 I give up with them.

Re: Disable Parental Controls

With other phone providers they do give the option of a debit card .

Re: Disable Parental Controls

It's ridiculous I'm lucky enough to still be in the 31 days where I can return the contract. I also got a broadband set up from them but they say that still won't verify my age . I suggested sending a copy of my passport but no a credit card or nothing. I'm returning the contract sim and waiting for a phone call about the broadband package. Sky fail to tell these things when signing up I just suppose I'm lucky I found out early enough. It's a ridiculous flaw that sky needs to address and very quickly

Re: Disable Parental Controls

I took out a contract sim and at the same time a broadband package and didn't need any age verification. It doesn't make any sense they are OK to give me broadband and a sim contract without any age verification but to get parental control off you need a credit card to prove that I'm  over 18. It seems to me anything to get you signed up and don't mention anything about it then deal with the problems later. I'm within the 31 days when I can still return it which I'm certainly doing

Re: Disable Parental Controls

You sure are screwed and SKY dont give a "continental" about it.

This problem has been going on for absolutely ages, years actually and SKY have consistantly decided they couldnt be bothered as its is too much trouble to sort it.

Customer service is not their formost concern, but super happy to grab ours and anybodies money of course!
