Long story short when my ex partner and i lived together he set up the sky account, which we had for over ten years, i had a sky ID so i could see the bills ect online but i wasnt able to speak to them on the phone. A few years back he had a phone delivered to our home from sky, it had my name on it for delivery as he was at work and you needed ID. Fast forward three years i am being chased for this mobile phone debt, i have explained to the debt collectors this is not my account and they advised me to ring sky, i rang sky and obviously they wont talk to me because its not my account! Im stuck now snd dont know what to do, i cant even contact him as he cheated and disapeared to the other side of the world, so im now a single mum of two and get no help at all from him! Why on earth is it in my name when its on his account and i just accepted delivery? Can anyone help me? X

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Jonese86 are the correspondents from the debt agency personally addressed to you?
Whilst anyone with the appropriate id can accept the package Sky will only deliver to the named account holder so I'm struggling to see how the phone was addressed to you if you are not the account holder

No letters, just emails and text messages which I assume they have retrieved from my sky ID, I really don't get it, I can still log into his account, it has all the details but they when I download the PDF for the mobile bill which is in debt it has my name and our old address, I'm really confused!

if he is indeed the account holder then the pdf bill will be in his name not yours
sky don't allow multiple names on an account, everything is in either yours or his name
are you sure he didn't setup the account in your name?

@Jonese86 The phone bill being in your name and the phone arriving addressed to you suggests that your details have been used to take out the contract, that puts you in a very tricky position as the onus will be on you to prove that your partner applied for it.
If your partner still has the phone it may be worth contacting your local police station for some advice as to whether he has commited a criminal offence, and if not what your options are going forward.
In the mean time i would contact the debt collection company and tell tehm you are disputing the debt and the reasons why, they then have to send verification that repsonds to your disput, you should also check your credit report to see if there has been a credit search by Sky during the time the phone arrived.
