Everytime I try to buy an Iphone 16 it says it needs to do a credit check and every single time it says its unsuccessful. My credit score is very high so I dont understand why its not working. What should I do?

@Sweg

Stop placing an order!

Be aware that if you keep trying to order the device this could further impact your credit score. If you contact Sky they would be able to confirm that’s the reason your order was cancelled but not why you failed the credit check in the first place as they are not allowed to view your credit record. You would have to sign up to a credit reference agency like Experian or Equifax, which would give you access to your credit record.

Any upfront payment you’ve made should be refunded after about 14 days but recent posts suggest it’s taking a bit longer in which case you’ll need to call Sky to chase it up.

@Sweg

Make sure your details are correct on your credit record, that there are no spelling mistakes and that your address and other details are correct.

Re: Credit check was unsuccessful

I've got Experian that's how I know my credit score is good enough and I haven't paid any upfront cost because I can't even make it to that step. I'll try contacting them but if they can't tell me why I fail the credit check idk if it'll help

@Sweg Your credit score only plays a small part in being offered credit, the biggest part of the check that affects your eligibility is the amount of open credit accounts in your credit file, once you hit a set limit(each provider may have different set limit) you are refused regardless of whether you can afford it or not.

As has already been stated repeatedly applying in a short space of time will almost certain impact your credit score.

Re: Credit check was unsuccessful

I am a new Sky Fibre customer in Ireland and was going to switch over to Sky mobile having been with Eir for years. I was going to get the s25 ultra with the €99 euro upfront payment however on check out after credit check the upfront payment changed to €177. I have never missed a direct debt in my life. Mortgage, phone, broadband, electricity. where do they get this credit assessment from?

A higher upfront payment will reduce the monthly payments.

Equifax and Experian.

Re: Credit check was unsuccessful

Ohh i get that it will reduce the monthly repayments. Its the fact that 99 euros outlay is a bit more inticing than 177. Phone i have is alright and not in need of an update but the 99 euros had me interested

The €99 headline figure is not guaranteed and subject to status.  A higher initial payment means you've still passed the credit check.
