I am trying to enable my 85 year old mother who is self isolating 250 miles away to be able to see her family using whattapp etc. . She does not have internet access.
I have been unable to contact sky on her behalf even though she is At risk as the phone call just cuts off. Very poor service.
I have a spare tablet that is wifi only so I bought a TP link M7350 mobile wifi and ordered a sky sim to add to my account. I plan to post these to her once setup.
I have activated the sim card and put it in the router. Powered up. It says o2 which is correct and I can connect to the device but I have no internet. The download speed is 0.00
The sky website says the sim has been activated and that 600Mb of data has been used even though it has not connected to the internet!
A text was sent to the card /mobile number saying welcome to sky
Getting desperate now and have no clue what I need to do to get it to connect to the internet

Posted by a Sky employeeHello @steves29, thank you for joining the Sky Community!
I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with getting your tablet connected to the Internet. The Sky SIM cards, whilst can be fitted into other devices, such as TP link M7350 routers, are not designed for such. The only devices that the Sky SIMs are advertised to be compatible with are mobile phones and tablets. Sky unfortunately cannot guarantee service with any other device.
Towards the end of your post, you mentioned that you had a text come through to the SIM saying that it was activated? Does this mean that you had a SIM inside a phone first, before you put it into the router? If so, a very likely possibility is that the phone it was in used the data, not the router.

Hi.
I got the text on the TP link which I viewd on my phone through the TPLINK app. I have try the sky sim card from my phone with the same results.
I was intending to buy a 4g tablet from sky but none were available at a senible price for several weeks so I bought the router and another sky sim instead as the only option available, not helped by not being able to contact anyone from sky.
Do I need to cancel the sky contract and find another provider?

Posted by a Sky employeeHey @steves29,
Whilst we can't guarantee that it will work, that doesn't necessarily mean it won't. If you do decide that you want to cancel, you have a 31 day cooling off period from when the SIM was activated.

It isn't working! If I had known it may not work I would not have bought the router or sim!

Not sure if your still trying to resolve your issue.
I've just brought the same device and managed to get it working by doing the following.

I had a similar problem as i did with a previous box and the way to resolve it is to do the following
1. Open up the TP Mini app
2. Select Tools - Internet settings - APN management
3. Click + in the top right hand corner
4. Enter the following:
Profile name - sky
APN - mobile.sky
leave everything else blank
5. Press done
6. Restart the midi box and it should work fine
@Goldspark original helped me with his original advice see link below which the above is based upon - without this helped i would have not have known how to resolve. It does surprise me that Sky cannot give this advice
