Can’t use my sim abroad. I bought an eSIM and still not working

I landed in Madeira, Portugal, 2 days ago but phone isn't working properly. I can't make calls with WhatsApp, internet is very slow, and I can't use other apps either. then today I bought an eSim card, but it's not working. I've been told to contact my network provider
