Can't port to an already active sim

I have an active sim card with Sky.  I wish to port in from another provider but the person at Sky is saying that you can not port a new number to an already active sim card.  Confused.  The reason i am asking is I have an exisitng sky sim and number,  I have changed deals and have to use a new sky sim (as yet not activated),  I am told you can not port one sky number to another so, you must port out your existing number to a different provider, then once its ported, you get a PAC from that provider and port back to Sky, now the tricky bit is, If I activate my new sim I am told by the Sky operative that I will NOT be able to then port in my old number back to Sky from the new provider if i have already activated the new deal Sim card.  I always thought you could port in any other number from any other provider to an already active Sim.  Am I missing something.  Thanks..

You have been given misleading information.

You need to activate the new SIM - you will either be able to give the PAC code during that process or, if not, apply it afterwards.

Re: Can't port to an already active sim

Hi,  Thanks for your response..

I also believe I have been given misleading info.  I wish to apply it afterwards rather than during new Sim activation.  I will activate the new Sky Sim which will give that Sim a new Sky number,  then I port out my existing Sky number to a 3rd party Sim,  once completed I then hope to obtain a PAC to port back my existing number to the new activated Sim,  The Sky operative is telling me that this is not possible once activation had taken place.  I feel sure this is the only correct way to keep an existing Sky number to use on a new Sky Sim.

Thanks again

Yes, unless Sky are prepared to apply a new offer to your existing SIM/number.

Re: Can't port to an already active sim

This is why I need to port in and out, It is not possible to have the new deal on an exsisting Sim/number apparently..

Its a new sim deal,  but I would like to keep my existing number.  So now I have 2 Sims on the one account sign in.  once I port out my existing number then that contract finishes and I ony have the one Sim with the new contract deal.  But as I said, the operative was adamant that I should not activate the new sim first or i won't be able to port back in my existing number from a 3rd party provider..

As you say,  I think I have been misled a little as I feel sure you can port in to an already activated sim..

I will update once I have gone through the process..

Thanks

@Rick72  It is possible but only at sky's discretion and they don't like doing it so the chances of getting someone who will are slim
