Hi, I tried calling a landline number from my mobile but get advised the call is not permitted but when I check my settings I can find no issue or location to chcek on any conflicts. Account is not in def

I'm having problems calling landline numbers, specifically my own home. When I try to call I get a recorded message saying "Sorry this number doesn't exist, please check and try again" then it hangs up. I have asked my ISP to check out my landline but it comes up with NFF but evenso I have a booking for an Openreach engineer visit. My ISP can get through on my landline so can my son who is on Vodafone but neither me or the wife both on Sky Mobile can get through and get the same message. I've got a new sim on my phone but no change. Many years ago I was working in Gloucester and couldn't ring home until I had travelled some distance and moved into a different cell network region so I suspect something like this is happening again. My wife has made a couple of calls to landline numbers on the same exchange as us with no problems. The numbers she's called all start with an 8 whereas our number starts with a 7 so the network may be dropping a bit somewhere.
I've tried but I can't find anywhere to call to report the problem, can anyone help please?

Although the techies claim not to have found anything wrong the problem has gone away. Thanks to you guys I now know what to do if the problem returns.

You are not alone in the community , but Sky has ignored this problem for weeks, I have phoned, complained three times, respond from Sky, sod all, they like your money, but service comes way down the line.
I have asked our Vodafone friends and business are now useing emails as phone service is not fit for purpose! It is only seems to be Vodafone , 02 and EE no problems, someone get your finger out and sort it please !

If this is an iphone go to Settings - Phone - My Number and change it if it is wrong, then reboot the phone.
If it is an Android phone go to About Phone > My Phone number, change it and reboot the phone. Also in text settings change the chat function to automatic. Make sure your current number is ticked and the temporary one isn't.
If it is correct then try ordering a replacement sim as that will come with the correct transferred number:

Same with me, switch from ee to sky, phone number switched over, about a week of getting calls and making them fine, then today no longer working.
