Can an eSIM save money if I am spending a lot of time in Europe

I have an iPhone 14 and I am about to spend most of my working year in Europe. I know about the £2/day roaming which will mean an average of £60/month.

Can an eSIM save me money and can I do without the £2/day roaming charge?

@Equalizer There is no way of bypassing the £2 daily charge through Sky, the cheapest way if your in Europe alot would be to use a local PAYG sim.

Thank you Davenos, what is the advantage (if any) in getting an eSIM?

You don't need to insert a physical SIM.  That's it.

(i.e. you can essentially buy and install - and don't have to wait for the post)

@PandJ2020 Thank you PandJ2020, my fault I realise I don't need a physical eSIM. What I am asking advice on, is using the eSIM going to save me money. I realise that I will have to use the £2/day roaming charge anyway?

Hi @Equalizer  there is no way to spend less money with sky. If you use a different network or local network you may be able to save money. Using an esim doesn't save money, only using a different network might. You can use physical or ESIM as you wish.

An eSIM, in itself, doesn't save you any money.

It's just convenient for both parties.

As already noted, Sky do not offer any differing packages between SIM and eSIM.

If your phone supports it you can add an eSIM to a SIM and use whichever gives the best value for the territory you are in.  (e.g. add a temporary eSIM whilst abroad)
