Calls to UK not working from Portugal

Switched on data roaming on my Samsung galaxy phone. Tried to make calls to UK from Portugal but it simply doesn't call and disconnects.

I can receive calls and send & receive texts but the main thing I want to do is ca UK numbers both landline and mobile it won't work? Spoke to Sky operatives and they couldn't help at all. Anyone out there who can help please?

Have you made sure that your phone is set to abroad:

Apple:
Settings > Mobile Service > SIM Applications > Make sure this is set to Abroad..

Android:
Sky Menu App or SIM toolkit > Roaming > Make sure this is set to Abroad.

Although you don't have to do you have a spend cap set because if you do it needs to be high enough to cover your stay.

That apart have you tried searching for other networks to see if your device will connect and then work ?

Thanks. Yes I set it for roaming data and increased spending cap as advised by Sky to the relevant amount .

Strangely I can text out and receive texts. I can get a call in but can't  call out?

Hi @Greenmagpie  have you tried turning off automatic network selection in your phone settings then do a manual search and try a different network from the list ?

Thanks I've tried several networks but result is the same unfortunately.  And it doesn't explain why I can receive  calls & send/ receive texts?
