Au revoir!

I signed up late last year with Sky Mobile - was very happy to have brought my bill for a 50GB a month contract down from £13 to £10.

Very happy that is, until June this year - when my tariff was suddenly doubled to £20. The best part is : Sky didn't see fit to bother telling me!! I only found out just now when I went to get my PAC code from them to switch my number over to 1pMobile. I have searched through all my e-mails from Sky Mobile, and yes I found a couple with the usual "We are changing raising our prices to allign with the wider market", then some stuff about raising international call prices. AT NO POINT did they ever tell me "oh, by the way Stephen, we're going to double your monthly tariff, okay?".

This is a pretty shocking lapse from a company that's usually one of the slickest operators out there. But it just makes my decision to leave even more justified.

When you took up the offer on this sim it came with a 12 month contract so this does mean that after the 12 months is up the price will rise but you are right, Sky should let people know that a price rise is due soon but as you have discovered they do not presumably because they believe people can view their forthcoming bills via the app.

Re: Au revoir!

It actually came with a "your tariff price is frozen" promise, which was not kept. It is also customary, for every single provider, to let you know "by the way your tariff will be doubled mid-contract", and not be so lazy and presumptuous to just assume "oh look, we have an app - their fault for not checking just in case we've suddenly doubled the tariff price from one month to the next". Seems fairly reasonable to assume you'd be told outright when it's doubled. Your point works if it was just an extra £2.30 due to RPI though, sure.
