A 47 month contract….

Hello everybody,

I am wondering if anyone can give me advice, I recently purchased a MacBook Air from sky hoping to get a 36 month contract. I went through with the contract while on the phone to a woman in one of the call centres and she put me on a 48 month contract, according to google, a 48 month contract doesn't exist with sky.

Additionally, when I add the costs up, it said £26 a month for 36 months is £936. However my contract bill is showing up as £1228.68. I think I have been over charged, I wish there was an email for sky so I could end this evidence over.

On the sky website for MacBook Air, it says that it's £26 a month currently for 36.... that's why I wanted the deal in the first place. I thought it was good. Now I regret going through with a contract that's over priced.

As long as you’re still within the cooling off period (which is 31 days), you’ll need to contact Sky who will lead you through the returns process. Dial 150 for free from a Sky mobile or from a Sky landline. Some more information is available here

@Berryberry10101 The Macbook that is currently showing as £26  a month is the  15" Air M4, that is only showing at £26 a month with swap 36 which is a 48 month contract, it is £35 a month on swap 24 which is a 36 month contract.

It sounds like you either haven't read the website when looking to see how the contracts work(it's clear above the prices about the length of contract), or it wasn't explained to you on the call.

The cheapest Air bought directly from Apple is £999: you aren't going to get it for less from Sky, particularly when paid over a lengthy credit term.  In general although the purchase is technically interest-free you're paying a higher list price (because Sky is in business to make a profit)

All the Swap contracts are longer than the name suggests.  The number in the name is time before the device can be returned for an upgrade, not the total contract length.

Re: A 47 month contract….

The 24 and 36 months are the SWAP period. take a look at the terms and conditions.
basically, on the "swap24", what you do is, get a 36month loan, however after 2 years, you can swap the device for a new one.

In a similar way, on the other plan, you take a 48m loan, and change the device for a new one after 3 years.

At the end of either plan, you will have a 1 year old mac (as you will have swapped for a new one). My understanding is that you will keep the device at the end of the plan (instead of returning it to sky, as if it was a lease).

But call Sky, and check kwith them.

Hi @Halley-  not quite, if you swap you start another new contract on swap 36 so you start again. If you don't swap then at 48 months the device is yours to keep with nothing else to pay.
