Unable to open Sky Go in Mac OS 10.13.6 (High Sierra) using Mac Mini 2011

Possibly related to this thread here from back in May as around this time I have been unable to use Sky Go (stopped working).  When the latest fix update was published (2nd August I believe), which fixed the issue for a lot of people, I still have been unable to get the app to launch. I have uninstalled, re-installed at least 5 times, searched for all instances of Sky Go and removed them including any folders, used CC Cleaner, everything.

Now I appreciate I am using a very old Mac (13 years old) and I am therefore unable to update to any of the latest Mac OS's however up until May, Sky Go worked perfectly fine for years.

Mac Mini 2011

Mac OS 10.13.6 (High Sierra)

Anyone else faced a similar issue and any tips to resolve it (if possible?). Any way to roll back to an older (pre-May version) of Sky Go if not? I know the installer forces the latest install - any way around this?

I'd observe that High Sierra exited Apple support just under four years ago.

Unfortunately @caesarome  I have the old Intel chip so no need for Rosetta. Thanks.

If there was just an easy way to get perhaps a pre-May version of the installer that doesn't force install the new version, that might fix it for me!

@KevNewMedia Hi, Apologies for reaching out directly. Do you why this would suddenly stop working after all these years of working on older versions of Mac OS? Is there anything I could do like updating the preferences file that comes packaged with the installer?

As mentioned above, this was all working fine until around May this year, when the wider Mac OS issue was raised and fixed in August.

Not had a reply but posting the exception here in case:

So the app tries to launch but quits and I get the following: "Sky Go quit unexpectedly". Termination reason appears to be: "Symbol missing"

From the log:

Part of the expectpion stack trace. Can send the full log if required:

Re: Unable to open Sky Go in Mac OS 10.13.6 (High Sierra) using Mac Mini 2011

To add some more info, I get a "Sky Go quit unexepectedly" error message after around 10 seconds of launching the Sky Go app. The app window never appears on the screen - just the error message. I looked at the logs and it appears the exception it is throwing is a "Missing symbol" error.

Part of the trace below:

Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (SIGKILL)
Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000
Exception Note: EXC_CORPSE_NOTIFY

Termination Reason: DYLD, [0x4] Symbol missing

Inserted stack trace in the spoiler here:

To add more context, I get a "Sky Go quit unexpectedly" error message around 10 seconds after launching the App. The app window never appears on the screen - just the error dialog. Some exception trace below indicating a "missing symbol":

Re: Unable to open Sky Go in Mac OS 10.13.6 (High Sierra) using Mac Mini 2011

@TimmyBGood Thanks for that - very useful info.  That update coincides around the time the app stopped working for me. Looks like they decided to "flick a switch" to turn it off for 10.3. X - appreciate they would no longer support it but looks like they've also seemingly consciously disabled it too? Shame, as it's worked for years no problems, even on my old dinosaur Mac!
