Skygo closing when iPhone screen goes to sleep

With my old phone I could listen to Skygo with my phone in my pocket (mainly sports commentary). My new iPhone now closes Skygo when the screen turns off. I can of course set to never but having the screen on drains the battery over time. Anyone else have this issue? Is it a Sky app problem or an Apple issue.?

I would guess it is an iphone setting somewhere that might need changing to stop this from happening.
