I've had this problem for months on a new Windows 11 PC - I tried uninstalling, rebooting, & reinstalling a number of times with no joy.
Finally, I used Revo Uninstaller to uninstall & remove registry & system entries for it, then followed the instructions here to delete the SKY folders that Revo didn't find; then rebooted and reinstalled from a fresh download, and it worked!
So far, so good...

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreTry this:
Uninstall the Sky Go app and then go to 'C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming (ensure hidden files/folders are visible) and delete the following folders:
Sky
Sky Go
And if it is present the Cisco and/or Synamedia folder in App\Data\LocalLow.
Empty your recycle bin.
Reboot your PC and then download and install the Sky Go app again.

I have the same problem but it works if I disable Nord VPN, seems to block it from contacting the server to update

The issue is becasue its blocked by either the Windows, or 3rd party firewall. If able, try temporarirly disabling it.

I got this issue after updating to Windows 11 last week. What works for me is:
Go to C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming and delete the Sky Go folder.
Then click on the Sky Go app, it opens, goes straight to downloading an update and opens as normal.
I have to do this everytime I open the app though.

Hi All,
Good grief, I thought this whole issue had been fixed long ago but on loading up a new Ryzen Win 11 Mini-PC and trying with Sky Go, here we are again.. stuck on updating all the time.
First time I simply uninstalled Sky Go and re-installed it.. no deleting data directories or anything.. and that worked. The next time I use it it's back waiting on checking updates again. I've opened up the Firewall for the app, paused the Virus scanner and all the usuals but is seems to have some other reason for intermittently failing.
Last time I played around with this in earnest must be two or three years ago, I can't believe it's still an unresolved issue!

I have been having the same problem. On my Windows PC, I usually press ctrl + alt + delete and open up my task manager. If the app is glitching, I have 'ended task' and opened it again which seems to work. Although, I have to do this nearly every time, it is quicker than deleting and re-downloading the app.

I'm at the end of my tether with this! I've tried all the methods on this forum all to no avail, come on Sky you can't provide a program/app that's not fit for purpose. I use Sky Go on my Windows 10 Laptop and I got a message saying the app was corrupt and I had reinstall which I did and it's been all downhill from there. Please Sky find a solution and not just a rehash of the advice already provided, because I've tried all the solutions on offer to no avail.
Cheers

Exactly the same thing is happeing to me and many others by the looks of things. Can't beleive it's not fixed or that there is no work around that works posted on line. Very irritating!

I've had this problem for years. Reported it to Sky several times. Still not resolved eh?
Sky are a multinational media company, charging top dollar for their services (and often overcharging 'by accident'). What does that tell us?
