Sky Go on Sky Q vs Sky Stream.

Hi,

I currently have Sky+HD (I know, there aren't too many of us left!), with Sky Go Extra.  I regularly use Sky Go on my PS4 to watch Sky Sports and on my iPad to download episodes to watch on flights. I think you have to have extra to use PS4, but don't need extra to download onto a Sky Go device.

I am about to move house and am considereing to switching it up to Sky Q or Sky Stream.

So question one:

I want to make sure that I can still use Sky Go as I am currently using. My understanding is that I would need to get Multiscreen for Q to get Sky Go Extra...or Whole Home for Stream to get Sky Go Extra. Is that correct?

The second question is: I have read that if you use Sky Go with Sky Stream you cannot download for offline viewing at all as the Stream platform is not designed to record/download. Is that incorrect/correct?

Final question: If I try and log into the Sky Go app on my AppleTV 4K, it wont let me login and says I need a Stream/Glass subscription. Does this work with Sky Q or not?

Thanks in advance for any clarification you can give me!

Dom

You need Sky Go Extra to both watch via your PS4 and to download content to watch back on your device.

That is correct, multiscreen with Sky Q and the Whole Home package with Stream or Glass doews give you free access to Sky Go Extra.

You are correct with this as there is no direct access to "recordings" on Sky Glass or Stream but then this is not how these platforms operate because unlike with Sky Q where you can record with Stream and Glass it is live TV and download/stream content only. If you were to go with either of these two you will still have access to catch and boxset content via the Sky Go app itself.

You would need either multiscreen if you have Sky+ or Sky Q ir the Whole Home package on your account before you can use the Sky Go app via your Apple TV.

Downloads for offline viewing go straight from Sky servers to the Go app host device rather than being transferred from a local hard drive in a Sky box.

Re: Sky Go on Sky Q vs Sky Stream.

Thanks for the detailed answer.

One clarification... if I get Sky Glass or Stream and pay extra for Whole Home - will I *definitely* be able to download tv shows for offline viewing using the Sky Go app on my iPad?

Thanks.

Re: Sky Go on Sky Q vs Sky Stream.

Yup understood - I realise that that the content will come from Sky servers and not from a local hard drive - what I was trying to establish was whether you are ALLOWED to download for offline viewing on a device (eg iPad) with Sky Go.

I have read reports online stating that there are NO offline downloads allowed with Sky Go if you have a Sky Stream (or Glass) account, but then others saying you CAN do offline downloads IF you have Whole Home. I'm just trying to establish the truth.
