I am being accused by Sky Go of "running software capable of capturing video".
I have absolutely no idea what this is about, buit the message is deliberately obtuse, unhelpful, does not help me fix the problem.
I am being accused of theft and cannot awatch the programme I wish to watch.
Then, to put the cherry on top, there is no way of actually finding out what is wrong on this awful help system online.
So i am resorting to this,. I hold out zero hope of findig out what on earth I can do about this.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIt is a bit of a misleading message, basically Sky Go will not work unless any program that is running in the background on your PC or Mac that is capable of capturing images, video or sound is closed. The most common one is the Windows Snipping tool that would need to be shut down for Sky Go to work.

The snipping tool! That little thing!
Thanks for the tip, terrific advice. Why doesnt the Sky error message just tell us that then, instead of making us feel like we are doing something wrong.
Sorted now, thank you very much.

I'm having the exact same issue using a Macbook running 12.0.1 Monterey. No idea whatsoever which app is casuing this problem and i've closed everything I can possibly can. Any ideas/help please?

I'm on a MacBook Pro and I received this error message. When calling Sky resulted in the standard remove the App, empty cache and reinstall etc was no help and did not work, I systematically closed all apps running in the background 1 at a time and it was closing the Keynote App that solved the issue and SkGo worked perfectly again. Maybe on a PC it might be PowerPoint or similar if, like Keynote on Mac, it has the ability to capture video.

I tried removing Keynote but unfortunately the same error code keeps coming up PFE 9903. It is doing my head in as Sky Go works firn on my old ipad but not on the Mac Book. Contacted Sky but they say it is a new code on them and no fix yet. Anyone help?

Found the problem it was the Telegram App that i needed to quit in order to be able to watch Sky Go stopping the error 9903 from appearing all the time. Thank Goodness for that!!!!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYou don't have to remove a program, just make sure it is closed so it is not running, what other programs are running, try closing them down one by one.

Sadly this is not much of an answer.
If Sky Go has the ability to detect applications, it would be a trivial matter to put the name of application in the error message. Which would be super helpful. Probably not even 1hr dev/QA time to implement and promote to the code base.
Although one has to question why Sky would be so actively aggressive in this regard in the first place, when no other online streaming service (and there are many to name), does the same sort of thing.
Forcing user to close native applications running on an OS is cause to question if Sky Go really supports those Operating Systems at all. I'd argue and say no and fully question the rational behind Sky's motives to deliberately cause trouble for their users. There is no technilogical reason why Sky couldn't offer 'in broswer' streaming the same way everyone else does.
But of course doing so would jeopdise them being able to charge considerably more money for their multi screen boxes....

I've killed everything that possibly could cause it and some that definitely couldnt in Activity Monitor and NOTHING. Same error message regardless. More **bleep** excuses from Sky to deliver crap customer service becuase they are paroid about the slightest change of a screen grab. 25 years a customer and the places to watch the content I pay for has only shrunk more and more

This is daft and archaic, I like many other users have closed all progams possible of doing so and still get the same issue.
Why cant I have a video editing software open while watching?
Why cant I chat on discord while watching?
This is the only streaming service that has this terrible feature - as mentioned by others SkyGo could grab the program(/s) name and list them in the error message so they can be closed OR more easily could just appear black in capture software - as has been implimented for nearly a decade by other services.
I'm constantly questioning why I give Sky my money every month as there is always a new issue that adds to my fustration.
FIX THIS SKY.

Thanks @caesarome that solved it immediately!

I've made an offical complaint about this - the Sky app is checking for something but how am I the paying customer expected to find out what that is if the error message doesn't help and the helpdesk answer is vague and ends with the poor person taking the call having gone through the useless options Sky have given them to fob us off with tell me basically it's my computer that's the reason their software doesn't work! Tell me what it's concerned about in the error message and I'll deal with it!
I don't want to steal their stuff I just want to WATCH their stuff. What they do is force me to go use another source to find it on my computer because I can't using their crappy app. As others have said there are streaming services with competent developers who bamboozle screen capture apps with a black screen.
All I want is the Sky Go app in the corner of the screen when I'm doing other stuff so I can easily flick to it when I need to. I don't want to have another screen in my workroom the computer's fine and I don't want to have the whole screen filled with SkyGo I just want it in the corner when I'm doing other stuff on the PC.

For me, it was because I was running Panopto - believe it or not.
Sad sad, sky, do this crazy things and the user has to GUESS which application to close.
Shame on you.
