I suspect something has changed in some Samsung software somewhere related to screen sharing/mirroring, and the Sky app is now seeing something it thinks (incorrectly) is an external display.

Got it working on the tablet last night. Works for me if I'm not in DeX mode, even though I've used DeX mode for ages with Sky Go.

I had exactly the same problem on my Samsung S6 Tablet. Although I have always watched via Sky Go without any problems. The most recent update seemed to create the fault. But as the previous person said if you switch off Dex mode it works fine. It's just a bit of a pain having to switch Dex on and off.

I was just replying to your first post to say switch off dex if you have it one your device!
Glad it has given you a temporary fix!
We are all still waiting for sky to upgrade the software.

Hi,
I'm not sure if you're using a Samsung tablet but if you are and it's set on the Dex setting you will not currently be able to watch Sky through your Sky Go app. You will get and external error message. Try returning the device to the original tab setting (not dex) and it should work fine. I only stumbled across this by chance but it's certainly a temporary fix.

Have bought a new phone it's a Xiaomi mi11 ultra I have this problem only bought the phone a week ago phoned sky the guy didn't have a clue he said someone would call back still waiting
I think it might be because the phone originally came from China and something to do with the software they used anyway stuck without sky on the move too

If it's running MIUI rather than actual Google Android then yes, that's quite possible: Go is likely to expect to be able to check against standard Android features when assessing the security of content being played.

I am getting external display blocked on chromebook with or without it connected to my tv via hdmi cable.
It was working fine last night and this morning.
Any help appreciated as i am currently without my sky box due to no clear view from my sky dish.
And will be without my sky box for a few weeks.
No sky tv with kids isn't the ideal situation as i don't have tv any other way.

I have the same phone (M11 Ultra MIUI 13), purchased whilst in HK, running Google Play and all other apps work ok. Sky Go runs as an app, but as soon as i select any channel to view external output blocked message. I hope they get this sorted as we pay a small fortune for their various packages and features and not being able to use what we have whilst on the move is very annoying!

Hi,
I also have a Mi 11 Ultra but I bought it in August '21, it has the Chinese ROM. Originally Sky Go worked with my phone but I have just tried it and it doesn't work anymore, saying 'External display output is blocked', it still works on my tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab S5) and my old Android phone (OnePlus 5T). I can only assume that the Sky Go App is not compatible with the latest MIUI version!

This problem still persists, Xiaomi Fold 2, MIUI 14 running Android 13. Same error regarding the external output. Everything else works great on this phone, banking apps and similar. Just not SkyGo, months and months later Sky still haven't fixed their app....

I spoke with a Manager @ Sky Technical around 4 Months ago now. He was quite candid about it I said Sky Go was viewed as a 'nice to have' enhanced feature, and as far as Sky are concerned it is not an integral part of their package, so basically it should be accepted it will work for some and not others. They do updates when they get around to them, so the whole impression I got was one of frankly they are not that bothered and accordingly I suspect I will have changed phones again before this gets fixed, if indeed it ever does.
Hopefully the same attitude doesn't apply to their integration of ITV X into Sky Q as the wait there drags on too...
