External output blocked

Can anyone tell me why I'm getting this message ? I'm trying to watch the sky go app on my phone, not trying to watch it on TV or anything else. Thanks

@Nessa79

That's as expected: the Go app does not permit screen mirroring.

I would try deleting the app, rebooting your phone and installing it again.

Re: External output blocked

I have been using Sky Go appon my Samsung Galaxy for years without an issue.  Today its says the "External Output is Blocked".  I am not trying to mirror or anything, have tried rebooting, restoring etc.. but to no avail.

Can anyone let me know how to resolve this, as I use this as my TV in the kitchen.

So to be clear your Samsung is connected to this TV, if so then due to right reasons this will be blocked, it is just surprising that this hasn't happened earlier.

Re: External output blocked

No, that's not what I mean. I have a samsung tablet in my kitchen purely to watch Sky Go. I am not trying to mirror or connect to anything else.

Re: External output blocked

Started happening here too.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7. Been using Sky Go on it for ages with no issues. Today it gives the 'External display output is blocked' error message and won't work on the tablet. No external displays.

Re: External output blocked

I am currently in a queue calling sky now to see if they can fix it.  I will update this post if I get any answers on how to fix the issue.

Re: External output blocked

Not fixed.

I have spoken to Sky and the advisor can see that there are issues with the Sky Go software (A7 tab / S20 and software versions 11 & above on devices).

Sky are working to fix and send updates, but currently no timeline given.

Advised to keep checking every few days (also uninstall app, switch off device, then reinstall if not latest app).

Basically this will be a waiting game as issue discovered on last software release back in July 2021 - not every device showing same problem, hence randomly happening to individuals).

Sorry I didn't get better news to share.

Re: External output blocked

Same issue with my s10 today using dex, always worked perfectly, now today its popping up with "external output blocked"

Unbelievably frustrating.

Re: External output blocked

So, Sky Go works on my mac, works on my Samsung S20 FE, but it's only the Tab S7 that gets this error.

Same version (21.9.1) of the app on both Samsungs, although weirdly on the tablet it was updated 1st Sep. On the phone, 5th Oct. Same permissions. 21.8.1 on the mac.

But it's only this week it's stopped working for me. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling.

Re: External output blocked

It issue isn't affecting every device / software... it's totally random. The issues were first reported to Sky about S20 & A7 devices, so that's what they are generally saying are affected. Buy it's quite clear it's just bad luck if it decides to happen on one of your devices.  It's working OK on my phone, just not on my tablet!

They don't know the precise issue, so once it's happened, we are basically stuck until new software is released & hopefully "fingers crossed" it will resolve it.
