NOT IDEAL FOR TVS WHICH ARE IN A RECESSED WALL LIKE A MEDIA WALL. THE BRACKET IS DESIGNED TO BE INSTALLED ON A WALL WHICH YOU CAN SEE BEHIND THE TV FROM THE SIDES. UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE INSTALLED IT BUT THE TV IS NOW SITTING FURTHER BACK IN THE RECESSED WALL WHERE I BUILT AROUND MY OLD CHIMNEY BECAUSE THE BRACKET DOES NOT PULL OUT FAR ENOUGH FORWARDS.  I AM IMPRESSED WITH THE QUALITY HOWEVER IS NOT PRACTICAL FOR ME.

Appreciate your post was from a while back but hoping you can help with a question - can the TV sit on the wall mount and be left slightly off the wall or does it have to be pushed back flush?  I only ask as I have a media wall with a recess for the TV and sockets for power and Ethernet installed. With the depth of the power plug I don't think it will be able to go flush against the wall and will only be able to be pushed back as far as possible. The recess has adequate depth so tv won't come out to far but is the bracket stable if used like that? I don't want to really have to start changing sockets for a recessed design if I can help it. Thanks.

Is the box in your media wall that the TV sits in quite a bit deeper than the depth of the tv? Only asking as we have just had a media wall fitted and the guy made the box extra deep. I'm thinking it would have been much better if it was around same depth as TV as TV would pull out further beyond the front of media wall.

Hi,

I finally mounted my 55" TV this week. I am no DIY expert but managed to do it myself and it's definitely secure.

The recess TV section of my media wall is 100mm deep. What I decided to do to overcome not having sunken sockets is to fix a 25mm thick piece of plywood behind the bracket so it brought it away from the wall sufficiently. The plywood piece was a bit larger than the Sky  bracket. I fixed the plywood  to my media wall with a combination of 2 x 80mm coach screws through the MDF back panel and into a stud and then 4 x heavy duty 60 mm wood screws in each corner of the ply wood panel and into the MDF. On to this I then fixed the bracket using 8 x 60 mm coach screws and 4 x heavy duty 60 mm wood screws. The bracket is solidly secured and I then fiitted the TV on the bracket.

The depth of the ply wood plus the bit of bracket was sufficient to allow the bracket to be pushed flat while still keeping the TV clear of the protruding plug. The TV depth (47mm) plus plywood (25mm) plus bit of bracket (about 10mm) still alllows the TV to sit slightly back within the 100mm deep recess. I also have a 50mm gap around all sides of the tv within the recess. 

I had to tape the power lead around the edges plywood panel to stop it hanging below the TV as it's unnecessary long for a wall mounted option - can you get a shorter one? I have a CAT 6 socket installed behind the TV so bought a short, slim, angled Ethernet cable to connect that without having excess cable to manage.

I had originally booked AIT to install the TV for £110 as an upgrade to my delivery. When they delivered it they said they wouldn't fit it on a media wall as the weren't allowed anymore unless they had built the media wall! I was refuned  my money. The plywood cost me £35 plus about £10 for the screws so doing it myself has saved me £65!
