Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details

It's the screen size rather than the device size. You can find the size info here

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details

So it was mentioned that the playlist will record to the cloud, which as again mentioned that it is similar to recording in that sense.... The question then, are we limited to a storage capacity in the cloud?

There is a theoretical limit but one wonders if it's just a figure plucked from the air for marketing! There's never been one complaint on these forums about storage on glass !

Only certain things are cloud recorded - normally from channels which don't have their own app, or live sporting events.

There is no storage capacity because you don't actually have your own storage area. Cloud recordings are merely a stored section of a broadcast stream which sits on Sky's servers for anyone who playlists that programme to access.

You can't delete it in the same way you can a recording on Sky Q, you can just remove it from your playlist and the file will remain on Sky's servers for those that still want to access it, or until Sky remove it.

One thing to bear in mind is that certain live sports and shows can disappear from your playlist after a while

for example I playlisted green day at the Isle of Wight festival on sky arts last June . I watched it a few times since but noticed last month that it had disappeared from my playlist. I'm assuming rights issue or such like

@SnosRap75

If you're at all nervous about the playlist and how it functions, you might be better off ordering a Stream puck first of all to see how you like the SkyOS. It's a lot easier to try a puck for a month and return it than going through the whole delivery, assembly and return process of a Glass TV if you find you don't like it. Sky also charge a £25 returns fee for Glass as they are big and heavy.

If you like the puck then you could always keep it for a second TV in your home, order a Glass and then just add the Whole Home sub to enable you to watch your subscription on both devices.

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details

Im really trying to run through all the pros and cons of switching from Sky Q to Sky Glass. I love tech, I also have a half decent TV, Samsung Qe55Q60TAU. With that in mind I have to decide is it worth it.... I also have the old Devielet sound bar which is ok at best. I have no issues with Sky Q, in fact I really like it. Sky Glass gen 2 will hopefully be a better picture even if only slight... The sound will be built in, hopefully that will be better and the TV itself is not a huge cost (hidden away in the subscription) agree its expensive in comparison to some TVs out there. Sky Glass 2 is convenient, in with the price (kind of)... Im not going togo and spend 600 to 1000 on a TV with what I already have but I kind of would go to Sky Glass 2 if I believe its worth the swap and im not going to lose or miss out on anything really that I already have...

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details

I think I'm edging closer to sky glass gen 2.....

Other than recording which technically I will still be able to do.... Is there anything else that I might miss switching from sky Q to Sky Glass 2? Anything....?

You can only live tv pause up to 30 mins then the show will start playing again

there's a slightly different channel line up and no +1 channels (although you can watch from start on any channel

you have to pay for an add on to be able to ffwd / rewind

the ffwd rewind is not as slick as Q

you have to sign in to all the apps individually  on first setup

You should check thechannel list to make sure you won't miss anything.

You should also make sure your internet and WiFi is up to the job, if it isn't it'll be a bad experience.

I'd say try to see it in a shop, get a feel for the menus and capabilities.

One other worth noting about playlist is that some shows are only accessible on demand on specific services that you may not have. One example is The Simpsons. You might have Channel 4 and Sky Showcase, but the on-demand rights are with Disney+ and if you don't have Disney+ you won't be able to watch it not-live. It's a legal quirk, but one you should be aware of. TBH The Simpsons is the only example of this I can think of, but I'm sure it exists elsewhere too.
