now I've unsubscribed , why can't I use freeview on MY sky glass without having to turn the damn WiFi off first? it's stupid I've left but I'm still paying for the t.v. so what gives sky the right to hide the Freeview t.v behind the need for the WiFi to be turned off. how hard is it to put a Freeview icon on the apps so I don't have to F@@@ around with it. does anyone one else feel trading standards should be getting involved over sky's deliberate actions to scupper the viewer on a service (Freeview) which is both advertised as part of the t.v and the person who is paying for the t.v as there own. if your going to do that then youau as well give the buyer the right to hand the t.v back or sell on at half price. it's ridiculous

Re: now I've unsubscribed, why can't I use freeview
No one here can tell you as we are fellow subscribers. However this is the information Sky publish on using the TV without a subscription: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-glass-without-a-subscription
However DTT isn't marketed as part of Glass and is solely marketed as a backup option. https://www.sky.com/help/articles/tv-input-app-on-sky-glass
As for selling the TV. It is your property and you are free to do with it as you wish..as long as you ensure you pay the loan repayments. https://www.sky.com/help/articles/buying-sky-glass-second-hand

Unfortunately because that's how Sky designed it.
I've left but I'm still paying for the t.v. so what gives sky the right to hide the Freeview t.v behind the need for the WiFi to be turned off.
There's no 'right' to access anything on proprietary hardware.
how hard is it to put a Freeview icon on the apps so I don't have to F@@@ around with it.
It's not 'Freeview': that's a registered tradename. The Sky Glass tuner is for digital terrestrial television with its own EPG.
does anyone one else feel trading standards should be getting involved over sky's deliberate actions to scupper the viewer on a service (Freeview) which is both advertised as part of the t.v and the person who is paying for the t.v as there own.
Glass functionality without a subscription is as described by Sky.
if your going to do that then youau as well give the buyer the right to hand the t.v back or sell on at half price. it's ridiculous
Glass owners can sell their set for whatever they can get for it: unfortunately that's probably not very much.

Can you supply a link to the ad?

Note there's no mention of 'Freeview', because that's a different branded EPG owned by Everyone TV.
Also note the Google AI response on this topic is incorrect.
For practical use without a Sky content subscription, it's preferable to have a separate digital terrestrial television receiver or recorder ('Freeview' if you wish) attached over HDMI: that way the internet connection to the Glass set can stay active.

Re: now I've unsubscribed, why can't I use freeview
I suspect the word 'scam' is being used out of utter frustration rather than in actual context.
Trade names aside @badgerz @is right in his frustration as Sky deliberately limit the use of the woeful glass tv to ensure subscriptions are maintained to its services. When a customer is purchasing a TV then all functionality of that TV should be maintained subscriptions aside, to limit over aerial transmission or WiFi as a choice rather than having access to both is not right when you own the product.
Smarter than a smart TV it never has been but to make someone's tv a dump terminal because they no longer subscribe is a diabolical approach and quite frankly shameful.
Despite what might be in terms and conditions and the responses of, "should have read the small print" there are principles at play here and Sky should treat customers better even if they move on.

Re: now I've unsubscribed, why can't I use freeview
Isn't it all in LARGE print rather than small print🤔
BUT it is one of worst decisions made by the Sky Glass development team☹️

@Gincap Happy New Year to you. If the rumours of the Glass V2 announcement in February are correct I wonder if they will have changed their approach with the updated version? Let's hope so 🤞

Re: now I've unsubscribed, why can't I use freeview
Sorry you bored me silly so couldn't fully get through your sky bottom kissing, read the small print lecture. It is a SCAM, and a crafty one at that...in my opinion. Your enticed to buy a television, once you no longer want the expensive monthly subscription that they ramp up once got you as a customer, and you want to a cheaper subscription , your new glass tv is no longer user friendly, you have to mess about toggling your internet on and off to access freeview. I am not the first to point this out. It's not clear when you buy one little bit.

Re: now I've unsubscribed, why can't I use freeview
Please remember the forum rules. Understand your frustration but we are just fellow subscribers. There isn't any need to be like that. The information is available here: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-glass-without-a-subscription
Once it's activated, you’ll be able to:
- Watch live and on demand TV through TV apps, like BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Netflix and more.
- Connect other devices like your games console or DVD player through a HDMI port
If you believe you were mis-sold the TV in any way you can complain to Sky. https://www.sky.com/help/articles/how-to-make-a-complaint

Presumably Glass v2 (if there is one) will be running the same Entertainment OS as the v1, so that could make such things difficult.
I'm unclear about where the DTTV tuner functionality is in respect of the hardware/firmware/OS/GUI stack.
