Glass Gen 2 Delivery and set up review 14 February 2025

Delivery: Received confirmation the night before with a 2-hour delivery window, on the day of delivery AIT called to advise they were 1 hour away, happily though the arrived in less than 1 hour, no complaints there. Delivery team were professional & friendly and placed the TV in the room of my choice.

Unpacking: TV is packed in cardboard which is environmentally friendly no foam/polystyrene packing to contend with which is excellent.

On close inspection of the TV no damage was present, so the packaging was sufficient.

Setup: It’s a 2-person job to do this due to both size & weight of the Gen 2 TV

Simply follow the instructions on the outside of the packaging on how to reveal the TV within.

Power lead, remote & stand attachments are located on the top packing pieces make sure you don’t accidentally discard these.

Setting up and connecting to Wi-Fi:

This was super easy, just follow the steps onscreen, once connected TV will go through the rest of the setup process.
It takes around 1 minute for the TV to boot up to the setup steps. At which point you can select English or Italian

Choose your wifi name

Input your wifi password

You’ll now be presented with the Glass Menu

Overall: No issues connecting to Wi-Fi, all settings such as playlist items are present once you access the TV (this assumes you are not new to Glass or Stream otherwise the playlist will be empty), Netflix is automatically linked to your profile, the other apps you need to login to.

One annoying niggle was Netflix would crash on selecting a programme, this was resolved by refreshing the apps.
All in all, a very easy process to set up from start to finish.

What about the Picture and sound I hear you say?

I tried various picture settings such as Auto, Vivid, Extra Vivid while watching Sky Sports ME UHD, Extra Vivid when selected will bring up a message to say energy consumption will be increased when using this mode.

However, it does give a much-improved picture on Sky Sports ME UHD HDR, but do switch back to auto or vivid for non UHD channel
Picture quality is really good on both UHD and HD, watching Netflix Dolby Vision looks great, tried Sky Sports ME UHD in Extra Vivid mode and this was better than I expected compared to Glass Gen 1. Certainly, a lot brighter on the much complained about HDR picture being dull.

Sound settings are decent although bass is disappointing in my view (I should note I am used to using a 7.1 AV receiver) normally.

Settings such as enhanced speech quality is pretty good however, especially when watching something in Dolby Atmos.

Audio output options in the settings menu include Night Mode ideal for nighttime viewing.

Scrolling through the menu was smooth and quick.

Overall I'm really impressed with the Gen 2 Set

Re: You've received your Sky Glass Gen 2, what are your thoughts?

Out of curiosity, have any Superusers been supplied with a free (or discounted) Sky Glass Gen2 to review on this thread by any chance?

I remember a few Superusers were given free Glass Gen1 sets when they launched and wondered if this had happened again?

That's not something we're able to answer as Superusers are under an NDA, however you'll find details about the Superuser programme here @Ellie_TV  As a Community, we are looking for all points of view from customers/Superusers, whether that is good, bad or indifferent 😀

We want the Community to be a friendly environment, where people can share their views safely 👍

@GD1 Thank you for a good review. One thing I would disagree on, I am a 62, partially disabled man and I set up my 55" myself. The easy way is to lay the TV on its back on a suitable surface, attach the legs and then turn it upright. Easily done by one person. I hope you enjoy it.

I did the same, but Ideally it should be 2 people.

I think you are right but if anyone finds themselves in my situation (having it delivered a day early and already having arranged help for the following day) it is not impossible to do it yourself.

As an ardent fan of watching TV in more natural modes I felt I should mention that, whilst Extra Vivid Mode, is availble to customers I believe it was really only introduced on both Glass 1 & Glass 2 so that it can be used in TV Showrooms & the likes of Currys

I really do encourage everyone not to use the Extra Vivid mode for normal viewing

Loving seeing these posts and reading the experiences people have had with it. I'm not in the market for a new TV at the moment but it's good to know there's a good option here in Gen 2.

My previous tv was the LG 60SJ850V and comparing it to this, I feel the Glass gen 2 has amazing viewing angles and with the dolby atmos sound bar it's a fantastic experience when watching movies and sports.

Really pleased with the TV it has a great picture quality and it's easy to use.We got the 65 inch one in black and it looks really good.It is very heavy so if you're going to put it on a wall get a professional to do it.Overall a great experience so far.
