WD My Passport external hard drive on Sky Glass
I got my Sky Glass TV shortly before Christmas and have had no problems setting it up or using it so far - with one exception. I have some old movies and music files on a WD My Passport external hard drive. On my old Philips TV, I could plug this in the USB port and use the TV remote to navigate through the files and folders on My Passport. I don't appear to be able to do that on Sky Glass. Has anyone had any success in doing this?

Re: WD My Passport external hard drive on Sky Glass
@SteveNotts You can't plug in any external drives to Glass, thre USB port is for the Live Camera only.

And the Glass operating system has no way to address locally attached storage, nor anything like an on-board Plex app to reach content over a local network. To do so you'd need to connect another device (such as a Chromecast or Apple TV box) over HDMI to the television set.
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

Sky Glass has no built-in media player or means of playing external files, other than via AirPlay.
However, many BluRay players have a USB port and the ability to play back various files types. If you connect one of these to your Glass TV via HDMI then you should be able to view your files.

Re: WD My Passport external hard drive on Sky Glass
I wanted to thank everyone who replied to my original post - it's much appreciated and the advice was really helpful - much more so than Sky's own help 'experts'....
If I do decide to keep the Glass TV (and the odds are only 50/50 at the moment - it's pretty limited really), I think I'll upgrade to a better Blu Ray player with a USB that supports the WD My Passport hard disk.
Thanks once again, and Happy New Year yo everyone.

Re: WD My Passport external hard drive on Sky Glass
@SteveNotts Have you considered Purchasing a decent Smart TV with Soundbar and subscribing to a Stream Puck? I sold my Glass TV a year ago and took advantage of Black Friday deals. The result was a much better viewing experience and is a decision I haven't regretted at all.
