UHD channels

A few months ago whilst calling Sky about an unrelated issue I was persuaded to get Sky Glass. Gen 2 was just about to roll out, though I didn't know at the time, and they placed my order for. Gen 1 set. This was a tad annoying when the Gen 2 roll-out came soon thereafter. Still, I was quite excited to get UHDTV for the first time, as well as the inbuilt sound bar. I won't go into here the many reasons why I think Glass is an inferior product to Sky Q. What I am perplexed about is why the HD pictures on all of the channels that have UHD options is far and away crisper and more vivid than the UHD version. Is it something others have found to be the case, or is there some magic switch that I've missed in Settings?

Should be just about ok ..... connecting with an Ethernet cable or powerline adapters may squeeze a little extra consistency to your connection

if you do this ensure you switch off wifi in the settings and reboot the tv

@StevieG4

There are no 'UHD channels' other than some Sports content.  Almost all UHD content is on-demand.

It's possible what you are watching is UHD content that has HDR data included, with the Glass Gen 1 in particular being rather poorly equipped to reproduce HDR because it has fundamentally mediocre peak brightness.

It's also possible that the data connection speed to your Glass set is on the lower margin for UHD bit-rate

Re: UHD channels

Many thanks for your input. I take your point about Gen 1 Glass being poorly equipped and that's just the way it is. Regarding your second point about data connection speed, is this something I can adjust? Thanks again

How fast is your internet speed ? If you go into the glass Netflix app then go to get help...... there s an option called check my network - running this will give you the speed received on your tv
