Speakers crackling on sky glass tv

Anyone else's speakers crackly on their sky glass TV? I turned the bass boost off but still does it...I don't want to have to turn the bass off but it's worse with the bass on.

Ring Sky and demand a replacement. You're spending hundreds of pounds on this thing. The speakers shouldn't be crackly but the build quality varies between units due to them being so mass produced.

@Lucylove1 @They shouldn't be crackling. Phone sky and have a chat with them. Sounds like a hardware issue to me. You should be 100 percent happy with your glass tv. Good luck

@Lucylove1Generally the sound is the best feature of the Glass TV, whilst it is not earth shattering as the advertising would suggest it is certainly the best I have ever had out of a TV.  As the other posts have indicated it would appear to be a faulty Glass TV so you should contact Sky to discuss the issue and request a replacement if necessary.

Re: Speakers crackling on sky glass tv

I am on my 4th sky glass tv (Medium) first two screens not fitted properly and last one crackles/pops on soundbar couldn't even have the volume above half, and when did it was there the whole time. Had my 4th tv now 3 months no issues until today when the crackles/pops have now started on this one too. So I'll be phoning tomorrow to get it sorted, to be honest the have been great  each time sorting replacements but I have read they send out refurbed models not brand new ones so I'll be asking for a brand new one this time.

Re: Speakers crackling on sky glass tv

@WickerBread There does appear to have been some quality control issues on these sets. Which is a shame. Hopefully V2 of Sky glass will improve on this. I think some of the problem is caused by the vibration of the built in sound bar.

Re: Speakers crackling on sky glass tv

I had mine on the wall so even took off and put on stand and it's the same, not going to lie i rate the tv, i just can't be doing with the hassle of it all. Especially when I've been use inhabiting a tv for years with no issues, always had LG before this (creature of habit). Last time they offered me to keep the broken sky glass tv and they would cancel monthly payment towards tv  and amend deal to as if was just stream. Not sure what i will do if options same this time. Annoying thing is my father and my father in law both have sky glass and never had an issue 🤦‍♂️

@WickerBread The overall quality of the Glass TV and the Remotes is very poor to say the least.  I don't know if a V2 will ever appear as suggested by @Jason+Golding but I imagine it will have to as the current model is 2 year old technology.

In the original launch presentation of Glass it was hinted that there may be an upgrade path similar to Apples.  If that is the case I might be tempted to look at a second version if the specifications are substantialy upgraded (OLED etc).  If not I will probably keep my current TV until it packs up and then return to a decent TV, sound bar and stream puck if they have improved.

Re: Speakers crackling on sky glass tv

Complete conjecture- but I feel if there is going to be a new iteration of Glass, they can't leave it later than 2024 to launch it.  I think they will ditch the soundbar and improve the panel quality. Possibly with an OLED premium version

@Jason+Golding fully agree with you conjecture.  They either need to bring out a V2 or ditch it altogether and just concentrate on Stream. If there is a V2 I hope they keep the soundbar as currently that is the best feature.  Imagine OLED with the Soundbar and a more reliable Sky inside it would be hard to beat 😀

TBH (tempting fate here) I don't have any major issues with my Glass TV and anything untoward that does happen is resolved with a simple reboot.  My annoyance is with some of the naff Apps like ITVX, Ch4 & My5 in particular (I know it's not Sky's fault or problem), also the blue progress bars and continue Watching don't work properly.

Re: Speakers crackling on sky glass tv

@Fothergill1 @Totally agree with you ! I have stream and it works brilliantly - with the exception of two things - the third party apps are slow and poor, and the RW and FW is really poor

@WickerBread That's good news.  A reconditioned one will be as good as new and I suspect you won't be able to tell the difference 😀

Re: Speakers crackling on sky glass tv

Had this crackling sound problem with a recent set - unable to initiate the warranty as it's a 2nd hand unit (1 year old) - after taking off the base back I noticed there's some nylon tape near the subwoofer that the glue had gone and was really loose if the volume hit loud enough this woul make the distortion sound. Removing the tape totally fixes the issue . Clearly it's a common problem and the glue goes over time. If you are in the same spot it's worth a try.
