If I have gen 1 do I have to pay full price for gen 2 sky glass?
Yup - there is not upgrade path from Gen 1 to Gen 2, you have to pay the full price for the Gen 2 TV. You could always try and sell the older Gen 1 to recoperate a small fee back to go towards the Gen 2 payment of course, although the second hand market does have quite a few Gen 1 sets available.
