No

Your custom settings is causing crushing of image details across all HD tv channels and devices connected to Sky Glass TV

To do calibration of a TV

You need a light meter and calibration software

Re: Sky glass picture settings suggestion

Like I say... all personal opinions from my side and everyone's else's a to wether you like them or not.

The thread is called 'suggested' and it's your own choice if you use these or not.

I'm not saying I'm an expert or that these are a professional opinion. I just wanted to achieve a better picture than the provided settings, and a less washed out image. which in my opinion the settings are achieving

Have you not got a UHD player and UHD discs

Your HD and UHD custom settings are not right

When changing picture settings on any  TV'

There should never be crushing of image details

That's removing details meant to be seen

It's best to leave the default settings in regards to White Balance to Standard (D65)

Unless you have a light meter and calibration software

TV panels even when same model will vary that's why you need light meter

There should never be any artificial sharpening be used on 4K TV's with 4K content

Re: Sky glass picture settings suggestion

I've 'suggested' some settings which brighten, add colour to and sharpen the image on MY sky glass. I'm not voiding the warranties of peoples TVs and I'm not telling anyone they should  do something

I've already had one telling off this week from admin so I'll stop there.

Re: Sky glass picture settings suggestion

Is there really any harm in sharing ways to make the experience better?

Personally I agree with the point that the presets are poles apart from being full Bertie Basset to  dishwater hue.

Some like vivid, some like warm and some like to customise.

Frankie said relax.

But he also said don't do it to be fair. 🙂

Re: Sky glass picture settings suggestion

For what it's worth I've tried both settings provided by pie extensively and I prefer the first set.

I also found the 2nd set go to the extreme ends of the white balance whist drastically reducing the backlight setting to that of the first.

Maybe I'll change my mind again, but make no mistake they are both better looking to me than the presets offered.

Re: Sky glass picture settings suggestion

Since these settings Sky Glass has been updated mine has Entertainment OS 1.2 and build version QS024.011.00P. Do these settings work well with updates, or do you now use different settings.

Re: Sky glass picture settings suggestion

Mines now in Auto.

As I've said before, if you change picture settings, from Auto to Vivid for example there's a notably inferior sound.

Sky sports football in ultra HD is a good example of this.

Separated sound from picture presets has to be a given!
