Re: Sky glass picture settings suggestion

@Red+Silence

That's because 50 on Sony Bravia TV is actually 0 aka neutral

Some TV's sharpness uses -/netrual/+

Some other TV brands 0 is neutral it will vary with different TV's

Example of image that's correct and not

Left: the original image. Right: the edge-enhanced "sharper" version. The "halo effect" is what the sharpness control adds.

New York Skyline.jpg

The original image on the left is correct and does not have any artificial sharpening

Re: Sky glass picture settings suggestion

Interesting points of view. Thankyou.

Also if you prove those updated UHD settings to be better than the ones posted on here the other day please share?

Re: Sky glass picture settings suggestion

An alternative setup for uhd users ONLY.

I had some feedback that dark films/horror films were better but could struggle with the settings at the start of this thread.

it's a hard balance to settle accross all the channels and apps, as at one point I'll think yes smashed it with sky movies uhd then go to Netflix atmos and it's horrid.

This is a second option I've had people testing. Some prefer this, some prefer the other. Either way they said both options are better than auto/vivid/cinema etc etc

colour balance management remains 50/50/15 for every colour.

please note you can't use a mix of option 1 at the start of the thread and this option. Because white balance remains the same on both I've had to try and get to a position where they both sit comfortably

Re: Sky glass picture settings suggestion

Somones just advised me to let the channel load a few secs before judging it. He's noticed it will adjust slightly on some channels usually after the 'restart this programme' message comes off

Thanks for sharing..

Unfortunately I'm struggling to read some of those numbers on my phone though.

The resolution (maybe it's my phone) isn't there.

Re: Sky glass picture settings suggestion

this post is for clarification of what's been discussed and so I can set as the answer due to there being a few comments around clarification and then me suggesting  2 more settings for helping with movies.

click on each image and it should be clearer to zoom in on and view.

I've also said in the screenshots initially that UHD users have 2 choices but what I should have said is both UHD and non UHD have 2 choices. However UHD users need to ensure they use both of either the right ones, or both of the left ones. For example You shouldnt change uhd then not change hd, and you can't use the left one for uhd and right one for hd. Needs to be both left, or both right.

@Anonymous

Just did a basic test

Your custom settings for HD not right

It's causing crushing of image details

BBC 1

Notice the clouds in the Sky

Auto Settings you can see the clouds

Re: Sky glass picture settings suggestion

@Paul+Boland  it could be that programme as I've noticed during the day bbc1 has some shocking quality it outputs and almost look SD. Some examples off top me head are:

- escape to the country

- money for nothing

- bargain hunt (sometimes)

- homes under the hammer

bbc2 can the same too but because I don't trust bbc1 daytime and bbc2 show on at moment looked hd and to me I've done the test on that.

As I say these settings are just suggestions and personal taste. But I personally think the custom looks better below.

Re: Sky glass picture settings suggestion

@MrLeeches  I haven't had any issues myself. But I saw someone mention it earlier. Try the new set of settings I suggested today off back of 'films being dark', if that doesn't work i: argue with sky that it must be a fault with tv as there's others not having this issue.
