This forum on a daily basis has numerous posts all with a question about sky glass not working in some different ways.People known as experts will mention WiFi speed, packet loss and latency when in reality the TV isn't fit for purpose.
If you can get out of your contract do it.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Dave10883 The first thing to try at the first sign of any problems is to do a reboot by going into Settings > System Management > Resets & Updates > Restart device (do not do a factory reset). It takes about 3 minutes to completely reboot. You will have a blank screen for a couple of minutes before the Sky logo appears so don’t panic when you first start the process.
You could also refresh your apps from the same resets & updates menu. This can take a few hours but is done in the background so you can continue using the Glass TV. I tend to do it last thing at night so it does the refresh overnight.

It is not necessary to be an expert to understand that WiFi can be fine BUT the internet connection to the Sky servers is inadequate to support Sky Glass🤔
All the reasons you've stated are reasons why the connection could be inadequate ... only some have issues ... while many do not😉

Will try that tonight thanks for your reply! Part of me does wish I'd have stopped with sky Q as didn't have any issues but hopefully with what you've told me to try will help thanks 😊
