Sky TV has lines running down the screen

I've had my Sky Glass tv for 2 & a half years. Turned it on this morning & there was a load of lines running down the screen. Spoke to Sky & went through all the trouble shooting & then they told me I'd need to pay £475 for a new tv. Surely a tv should last longer than 2 & a half years!?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

Try leaving the TV turned off at the plug overnight.

@SJ1205 It should and I certainly think that if you're taking on a 48 month loan to buy it, then the warranty should be that long too. Sky think otherwise.

Rather than buying from Sky if you need to, you might find it cheaper to buy from eBay/Gumtree/Facebook Marketplace.

It's unfortunate it's happened and I feel for you. This is why I now have Sky Protect - just in case.

Re: Sky TV has lines running down the screen

I know, it's so annoying that they basically just wash their hands of it & expect me to pay for another tv. It looks like it's not just me that this has happened to either.

I definitely won't be buying another tv from Sky anyway. I have a Samsung that's still going strong after 12 years so will stick with that for now 🙂

Re: Sky TV has lines running down the screen

Exactly the same happened to me. After 2 and a half years the screen packed up and they wanted £600 for a new TV.

Still had to pay the credit agreement for the TV and still had to pay for Sky live which I could no longer use.

after over 20 of being with Sky this was enough for me to sever all ties with them.

no way should a TV only last just over 2 years
