Genuine question: I'm considering getting Sky Glass but looking at reviews online and posts on this forum it does seem to still have some issues and of course you can't record TV in the usual way like on Sky Q. Other than the built in sound bar and 4k on the multiroom boxes are there any advantages to Sky Glass over Sky Q?
Thanks.

Many of the issues you see are down to poor wifi/broadband and in some cases faulty sets. Some software updates have also show other issues.
Does Stream have the channels you watch? Not all channel are on stream https://www.sky.com/help/articles/tv-channel-list-sky-glass

Thanks @GD1
My thoughts exactly. Fewer channels, software issues, no recording and paying for a TV that I don't necessarily need. I was just wondering if I'd missed anything that shows it to be a geniune upgrade

@GD1 Indeed. Sky however seem to market it as an upgrade as it's the first option that comes up when clicking on "upgrade my package" on the mysky app.

If 'Sonic booms' are your thing then maybe Glass is for you *

Never believe marketing or sales pitches from any company when you're about to spend hundreds of pounds on something. It's essential to do your own research to work out whether the product will meet your needs.
Sky Glass is wildly over-priced for what it is. I would always recommend Q above it in most circumstances.

It's only advantage is it is a single unit!
But do you want a single unit ... rather than separates of higher quality for the same cost?

I wouldn't touch Glass with a barge pole.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Fireball+XL-5 When I lost access to a satellite dish the only option was Sky Glass as at that time there was no option for a stand alone Stream puck. If having just a puck had been available I would definitely have gone down that route.
I don't have many problems with my Glass TV but except for the sound, which is excellent but not earth shattering as the adverts would suggest, the rest of it is fairly mediocre.
Looking on this forum I tend to get the impression that Pucks seem to have more problems than Glass but this might just be that there are more pucks in circulation 🤷♂️
In general I am happy with the Sky streaming platform but without doubt there are things that can be infuriating at times. I encounter very few of the issues others experience and I suspect it is doen to my excellent broadband. If you do not have fast and stable broadband then I would not even consider Glass/stream and would suggest Sky Q would be a better option.
Also make sure you are aware of the limitations of the streaming platform i.e. no recording and far less channels (Channel list for Glass and Stream)

there are much better specced tvs out there if specs are your thing. Personally I can tell the difference between 4K and HD but anything else is beyond my eyesight ........
also I would agree that there seems to be more issue with the pucks than with glass tv s - would assume there is slightly more inferior specs on the puck

@Fireball+XL-5 Try and ween yourself of it all together, with other streaming providers most of the content can be picked up at a lot cheaper price and you have the option to use whatever hardware you want.

When the craving to access Sky channels kicks in - there's always NOW TV with the flexibility to easily switch on/off and significantly reduced cost!

Indeed - I recently got an offer of 3 months Entertainment with Boost for £3pm. I took it up even though I have Sky Stream as I can't bear the slowness and unreliability of the puck.
The NOW app on an Apple TV 4K box runs so much quicker and more reliably. In fact so does the NOW app on the 5 year old Samsung TV I have in my office...

Looking at the comments so far, it looks like one should stay with Q and not move to the stream platform at this stage?
