Not sure you have many options if the unit itself is defective and the warranty period is expired. Not sure a repair is actually possible if the unit is defective. 

Check other posts on this forum for tips on dealing with Sky in relation to this issue.

This is the 3rd tv I've had with the same problem they are ripping people off and this time they won't replace it . I'm stuck with a tv that I still have to pay for that don't work ... DONT DO BUT THE SKY GLASS 

any help would be much appreciated

They are robbing people on the sky glass I've had 3 now with the same problem.. this time my warranty has ran out so they won't replace it . I've left with a broken tv that I have to still pay for I've been with sky 14 years I'm coming off when I can

Don't get it fixed they all doggy I've had 3 now it's broke again and they won't fix it . They ripping people off

That's your experience. Plenty of people, myself included have not had the same issues. My Gen One didn't have any faults after 3.5 years of use. Sold that when I bought a Gen Two and my buyers are still using it without issue.

I did have to get a replacement on my Gen Two after a week due to a panel fault but that's the only problem I've had bar a firmware issue that is now sorted.
