Re: Sky Glass keeps freezing

Oh also, the router is right next to the tv with nothing between to cause interference. Nothing else was using the WiFi when the tv froze yesterday.

@HK2 out of curiousity, if possible have your tried moving the router slightly further away from the TV and seeing if that helps at all?

Re: Sky Glass keeps freezing

That's an interesting suggestion. All my wires are chased into the wall, so that's not easily done. The router is approximately three feet adjacent to the TV. Both are facing out into the room.

Been using the TV wireless instead of the ethernet cable. Thought it had cured the freezing... It hasn't.

The TV is about a foot away from the router with nothing blocking it.

Re: Sky Glass keeps freezing

Today we learned that in the tv settings is a WiFi on/off toggle. Apparently the tv will still use WiFi when the Ethernet cable is connected, unless the WiFi toggle is turned off. I'll report back in a couple of weeks if this sorts the problem.

Re: Sky Glass keeps freezing

A long awaited update on this issue. The wifi on/off toggle with turn itself back on each time there is a software update. Resetting the bb router was supposed to force the tv to forget the existence of wifi, but that hasn't worked. One engineer told me the tv will never forget the wps connection, the next engineer said that wasn't true. Todays engineer said it is a fault with the tv that the wifi keeps turning back on, and its the same for everybody. They recommended changing the wifi channel frequently depending on my neighbours' usage. Any replacement glass tv will have the same issue. I told them if that's the case I sinply don't want to keep it any longer. Has anybody else had better luck than me?

It does (stupidly) seem to be the case that all Sky Glass TV's will still try to use WiFi, even when an ethernet cable is attached, so WiFi does need to be turned off manually on the settings.

WiFi seems to randomly toggle itself back on after a software update or if the TV is rebooted apparently, so it's something that owners of Sky Glass need to be wary of if they are connecting via ethernet.

If you are not happy with this then you'll need to ring Sky to discuss your options. You will have to make a claim that the TV is not fit for purpose if you wish to return it outside the 31 day cooling off period.
