@marcgracey just found this on Reddit, guy didn't said where the info is from but makes sense if true.
Allegedly it's because my TV claims to be 120hz frames, "effective refresh rate " was the term they used. But the panel is LCD and I guess the refresh rate is only actually 60 hz. It uses "frame interpolation"

Don't properly understand this

So I think we've been missold a TV & the Devs who set up ALLM don't know the TV limitations.
So ALLM requires hdmi 2.1 to work, & despite sky glass saying it supports hdmi 2.1 it actually doesn't. Hdmi 2.1 runs at 120hz, but the glass screen only supports 60hz, it then uses smoothing & this is causing the issue of frame skips every 5 seconds.
Absolutely no clue if there's a fix for this or where to even start

Glass was always specified as having HDMI 2.1 and a 60 MHz panel: that's not an inherent contradiction because HDMI is a socket and data transfer technology, not itself a display specification.

@TimmyBGood at the very best it's misleading, the only thing it can do with hdmi 2.1 is the earc sound thing & that's only available on 1 of the 3 hdmis, so the 2.1 ports are basically pointless. Every other 2,1 benefit requires a 60hz screen.
Either way, doesnt help the issue of auto low latency mode causing spikes every 5 secs, a mode that requires hdmi 2,1 AND a 120hz screen, either the Devs didn't realise it's a 60hz screen or they're just trying to shut people up for a while. Not good whichever way you look at it.

Realistically a 2.1 chipset may have been what was available for manufacturing: with an October 2021 release date, Glass falls into the timeframe to have been significantly affected by the global silicon component shortage towards the end of the pandemic.

Yeah I understand all the issues & knew what I was getting with glass & we've had 0 issues in 3 years. Issue is since they added auto low latency mode onto the hdmi settings it's getting to the stage were I might need a new TV. Auto low latency feels like it felt without it before they added it, which was fine for me, only now it's got this 5 second screen tear/jitter caused by smoothing (I forget the actual word) where it compensates for being 60hz when allm needs 120hz, by adding smoothing, this is causing the spike & making it unstable. But when you turn ALL.M off, so it should be like it was before, the desync/delay is absolutely horrific & not a plausible option.
This was either added & not tested, or added, tested, & not picked up, I've been on to sky & they've passed it upstairs but this issue was talked about on Reddit 2 months ago & it's still a thing 😞

Glad I found this thread as it's happening to me too with my PS5 and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why. I've had my sky glass for 2 and a bit years and this is also the first issue I've encountered whilst trying to game.

Yeah it's super confusing, the update for auto low latency mode was in June or July, but this weird thing only started happening in the last month (for me). Sky are aware, a sky guy posted on here he's sent it to tech & I spoke to a guy on X who also sent the issues to tech. All we can really do is wait 😞
In the meantime use the workaround, it's a pain but worth it if you're playing a while.
Another thing I don't understand, I played ok for years without auto low latency mode, but trying it now it's just really really bad. No idea what they've done but it's not worked.

I've turned it off on Xbox display settings,Seems to be ok Now?!?!

You turned off auto low latency in the Xbox settings? That's just like turning it off on the TV I think. What games are you playing? How's the desync? The jumping thing doesn't happen when ALLM is turned off, never has.
So something I've noticed recently, sky had an update that added apple support last week & the issue seems a tiny bit better it now jumps every 7-8 secs & not quite as severe as it was, still not good enough tbh.
I'll tinker with some settings later & see how it feels, worth a shot. Cheers for the heads up

Just done a bit of testing. Turning it off on your console or hdmi is the same thing, so either/or gets the same result.
It's 100% still there with ALLM on, just a sec or so later than before. With it turned off it's much better than it was recently, but you do feel the desync a little & it feels like you're walking on ice very slightly, in most games that absolutely you're best choice right now, however if you're playing anything first person, especially shooters like cod it's a big disadvantage having it on, but having it on is still pretty bad so still gotta use the workaround of setting the game up then turning your TV off at the socket, back on, & it'll last your full session as long as you don't turn over lol.
Thanks again bud

Big disadvantage having it off*.
Can't edit on here.

Hi,
I switched off 📴 the tab that slowed it to automatically switch to game mode in Xbox video settings. The screen glitching has now stopped.

Is a shame really as we should be able to put all settings on and enjoy!
Switching off in Xbox settings stops that 6 m/s lag for me though😁
