Sky Glass: finally the TV it was promised to be?

A rare positive post!!

I think that Glass is finally what they said it would be. After 3 years of being guinea pigs for, let's face it: pretty buggy software, I think they've finally got there.

Anyone else agree? User interface is pretty nice looking, some nice touches with animated startup and shutdown, channel logos on the on-screen banner, no more 'upgrade subscription to view' nonsense, ad skipping finally smooth and predictable, UHD: passable, low latency mode, and eventually: AirPlay!

So to the Sky R&D people, I thank you for the effort and perseverance. I really think Glass has turned a corner and matured into a useable product.

Re: Sky Glass: finally the TV it was promised to be?

We)ve had Glass & Stream for nearly 2 years now and have not long since had the price bump as our introductory pricing has come to an end.

I did float the idea with Mrs Coffeedrinker of saving a few quid by going back to NowTV Entertainment, Cinema, 4k Boost together with Netflix and Paramount+, mirroring our current setup. She said she'd strongly prefer us to stay with Dky as she loves the interface, the continue watching, the playlists and the ease of searching across all of our subscribed services (Sky Entertainment & Cinema, Netflix, Paramount+, Prime, ATV+ & Dis+) even if it meant paying more relative to NowTV on our Apple TV 4K boxes.

Thankfully we've not run into any of the usability & performance issues others have suffered. Whilst this is only her experience, the above shows just how much she enjoys our Glass & Stream setups. Early nights to watch our shows & films on our bedroom hosted Glass TV has definitely become a thing. Job done as far as Sky goes with the set.

I don't like the new front screen for Sky Store, especially with the purchases option being at the very bottom the screen. Very user unfriendly.

I don't use voice control as that frustrates me.

The quickest way to access purchases is via the playlist option.

I'm amazed you prefer the functionality over the Apple TV box, I found Sky Glass far inferior.  If Sky had got their playlist working as well as Apple I'd have stuck with it, but they're miles behind in mny opinion.
