Re: Sky Glass TV no longer workikg

@DonnaJ1984 Have to say, whilst I feel your pain at the TV stopping working just out of warranty, it's no different to any other household appliance breaking down and stopping working. It happens. It's just unfortunate when it does. I'm no legal professional but I think you would have a tough time getting a win in small claims court. It just feels worse because it's an expensive item but we committed to paying for it over four years

Yes, it possibly should last for all that time at least and the warranty should last for that time for sure. I would agree with that argument but a judge can only rule by the law and the terms and conditions signed by a customer.

When something is bought under a contract like this, the customer is responsible for paying the amount agreed to. I can't tell you how many mobile contracts I had to continue to pay for my son despite him breaking the phones before they ended. It applies to Sky Glass and unless you can demonstrate that Sky has committed a clear breach of its contract you're possibly burdening yourself with legal costs on top of paying for the Sky Glass.

There are First Gen models appearing on the second hand market now that may allow you to replace the TV at a lower cost than Sky have quoted. I sold my First Gen to someone who had been quoted £500 to replace their broken Sky Glass (damaged in a home move). They took mine for much less than that (to pay off the CCA), so that may be an option for you?

@Anonymous It's worth noting the distinction that the TV is bought outright from day 1. The customer takes out a loan in order to do that. That loan is what is paid back over 4 years.

Re: Sky Glass TV no longer workikg

same thing happened to me. TV screen went just outside of warranty. Still had 2 years left on the repayments and sky wanted £600 for another unit. They also wouldn't cancel my Sky Live payments either which is now useless to me.

I just bought a new TV and cancelled all my Sky packages.  I'm now realising how little, if any Live TV I actually watched and get the same apps etc on my regular TV.

was with Sky for literally decades and that was wiped away in one phone call and one appalling customer service experience.
