@CliffyCliff Snobbery aside, I tend to agree with you that there are much better TVs out there at a lower price. About 14 months ago I took advantage of Black Friday deals and I sold my Glass TV and purchased a 65" OLED and Soundbar for a similar price to a 65" Glass TV. This coupled with a stream puck gave a much better viewing experience.
Although I have never regretted my decision I fully understand that Glass is a much better option for many subscribers especially with the finance free purchase option. Horses for courses etc......
I have my main TV a Samsung 75" TV with stream for viewing and find that is perfect, I do have Glass in the bedroom but that is occassional viewing and is perfect for that also. Of course there are people whi don;t want multitudes of devices and opt for Glass which does what it's meant to do.
43" Glass TV & Puck Whole Home

Samsung 75" 4K TV, Sky Glass Gen 2 55", Sky Stream, EE FTTC Broadband, Three 5G Broadband (Backup), Sony 7.1 AV Receiver, Technisat MultiSat receiver.

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details
I'm quite shocked at quite how many people there are with 65" and above sized TVs!
Does everyone (apart from me) live in a mansion these days?! Screens of that size totally dominate the average sized room.
My 48" OLED is perfectly adequate for our needs and more than big enough for our front room.

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details
I have very mixed feelings when it comes to finance. As someone who once upon a time had bad debt i probably would of chosen glass and in all honesty it would not of helped my situation, in fairness having SKy with bad debt is probably a bad idea full stop. I found the only solution was to stop buying things and spending moeny unnecessarily and pump everything into clearing the debt. Rough couple years but now i can buy better products at better prices

@CliffyCliff I fully understand that credit finance is not always a good option for everyone. You have my admiration for managing to dig yourself out of the credit spiral 👍

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details
Hi, just wondering why OLED TV's wouldn't be for everyone, thinking about getting one when we have paid off our glass TV.

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details
Previous generations of OLED have had a darker picture, this is not so true these days with OLEDS 2000nits + in the right circumstances. You will never find a better picture qualty then that of OLED though . Spend a good amount of time doing research and watching reviews the latest OLEDS are due out soon. Most will go with Samsung or LG but TCL and Hisennse are sneaking in with siome great quality TVs. Just do your homework first and if you can view one in person even better

Don't forget Panasonic. Their LCD TVs have gone downhill in recent years but their OLEDs still win awards for image accuracy. I've had mine for a few years now and still get blown away by the picture quality. I managed to get it for just over £700 - an absolute bargain. The new range come with FireTV OS and Freely installed so are very versatile.
A lot of people have been scared of OLEDs because of the legacy of burn-in. Early OLED models did suffer from this, where image retention was a problem. If things like the Sky News ticker were left on screen for prolonged periods (we're talking hours) then it could leave a permanent 'stain' on the TV panel, which would be noticeable when watching other channels. Modern OLEDs now have proper panel maintenance procedures which usually occur when you turn the TV to standby to prevent this happening.

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details
OLED might not be the best for people who have static images/ banners on their screen for extended amounts of time such as Sky News. The fear and experience of some OLED users in the past has been "burn in" on the screen. If users are going to suffer from burn in anxiety, then maybe give OLED a swerve. However, I don't think it should be a concern depending on your viewing habits and the technology of TVs today.
OLED might not be the best for very bright rooms, and so a good quality Mini LED or QLED should be able to offer brighter picture over OLED.
As you can see below, my 65" OLED is next to a patio window which gets the morning and midday sunlight shining across and onto the TV. I rarely watch the TV before 1600 and when I do the picture is fine.
However, my partner purchased matching electric blackout blinds and curtains from Hilarys for 2 patio doors and a small window (see pic).
The cost was astronomical (£3K) and I was questioning (actually complaining) about the expense, but I must say, the blackout blinds lead to a nice cinematic experience anytime of day.
I would really love to have a side by side comparison of my OLED next to a Sky Glass Gen 1, 2 and Mini LED to see the differences in picture quality.
Now TV Sports + Entertainment + Cinema + Ultra Boost @ £34 pm (till April 2026)
1000/115 FTTP (Aquiss) to Zyxel DX3301
3 x Asus XT9s + + RT-AC58U V3 for WiFi (AP mode)
65" Samsung S92C OLED TV
C430 Samsung soundbar with subwoofer
6 other streaming TVs
43+ network connected devices

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details
Honestly the average Joe/Josephine wouldn't know the difference between an OLED, a QLED or a bananna (well maybe a bananna 😁). All he/she wants is a TV with a good picture with the fewest exposed wires possible. Hence Sky Glass. Just because he/she has spent more money than somebody with a "better" TV and super duper sound bar doesn't make his/her purchase any less significant. So, please give him/her a break. Love is in the eye of the beholder after all.

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details
Hi, just a few more questions to help clear up some things... Im considering Glass 2 but waiting for some you tube reviews and having some good interaction on here which is really helpful.
Example 1, Live football is on sky sports at 8pm. I do not get home until 11pm after the football has finished.
1. Have I missed it and that's tough luck!
2. There is a way to ensure you can watch the match after it has finished.
Example 2, Eastenders is on at 7:30pm, finishing at 8pm. Similar to the football we arrive home late, can my wife watch that episode or does she have to wait until tomorrow?

As long as you added it to the playlist before it started it would cloud record for you to watch when you get home. Effectively the same as remembering to record it on Sky Q.
I don't watch football, so you probably want to have confirmation from someone who does on this but this is my experience with F1 and cricket.

It's available as soon as it's added on iPlayer, which is typically immediately afterwards in my experience except for some live shows which take a little while longer.

Re: Sky Glass 2.0 Launch Details
I also cant find the true screen size of the glass 2. Does the 55" include the speaker setup at the bottom or is 55" purely the screen size as it would be like any other TV
