Sky 1.3 Update ALLM Game Mode - PC Gaming

Hello,

I use a gaming PC and plug in a SteamDeck also via HDMI. These do not seem to activate ALLM mode. Is a manual Gaming viewing mode coming or is there a way to improve the detection of gaming devices.

Best,

Will

@WillRB95 the game mode on Glass requires a feature called ALLM - automatic low latency mode - which is part of the HDMI 2.1 spec. From a quick look on line I dont think the Steam unit supports HDMI 2.1 unfortunately

edit Sky have made no mention of adding a.manual mode as the main consoles customers use  all support HDMI 2.1 and  ALLM.

@WillRB95 No the Stream deck unit I have edited the post to make that ckearer thanks. To get ALLM to work all devices need to support HDMI 2.1 which Glass of course does.

@WillRB95 @Chrisee

I'd observe that some third party Steam Deck docks claim to be specified as HDMI 2.1

For the gaming PC it would depend on the graphics card in use.

Where hardware is 2.1 compatible but the issue continues then 'better' HDMI cables may also be worth a try, but don't spend more than £10 a cable.

@TimmyBGood thanks I saw that you need a dock to connect the Stream deck to a TV but I am not sure on the exact way the signalling works as having a HDMI 2.1 chipset does not nean al features will be enabled.

@WillRB95 Sky staff do read the posts if other people ask for a manual low latency mode they may add one but continents seem to move faster than Sky's development programme. 😔

Re: Sky 1.3 Update ALLM Game Mode - PC Gaming

Update: After reviewing the documentation, the official dock for the SteamDeck has HDMI 2.0 and only supports ALLM through display port 1.4. I do not know if you can use an adaptor for display port 1.4 to HMDI 2.1 although I don't have much hope.

My graphics card does not have HDMI 2.1, rather display port 1.2.

My PC supports G-sync and VRR technology, where-as the SteamDeck only supports FreeSync VRR.

Hopefully a manual mode on HDMI inputs is released at somepoint for the Sky Glass to provide minimal Input latancy as the response time of the display is disapointing.

Thanks all.
