Returning sky glass and getting ripped off
I was recently convinced to purchase a sky glass as I was told by the salesman how good it was. Well, it was absolutely rubbish the picture and sound quality was terrible we read about best settings and was still rubbish. Even fitting to the wall the bracket didn't let the TV sit vertically and stuck out at the bottom by 25mm. Asked to return after 1 week and l had to pay £25 to return now they want £270 to cover "damage" obviously we are being ripped off here as the TV was in perfect order ! Anyone else have experience of this ?

Believing every word a salesperson tells you was clearly a mistake. Sorry, but its your money and thus your responsibility to do your own due diligence, read reviews etc.
What damage are they referring to ?

The £25 return fee is a fairly recent change, I think with the change in courier company which Sky now use to deliver and collect Sky Glass.
It's always been adviseable to take photographs of a Glass TV that is being returned as proof of the condition it was in before collection. This way the courier company are more likely liable for any damage during transit back to Sky.
You'll need to ring Sky to raise your concerns or submit a formal complaint.
Oh, and yes, never trust a salesperson, from any company. Always do your own independent research, especially when spending hundreds of pounds on something as crucial to most homes as a TV.

Re: Returning sky glass and getting ripped off
Hi
good practice would be to take photographs and videos pre and during packing. This could allow you to challenge sky and produce evidence of the condition of the tv when returned .....

It's always advisable to take photos of the TV on and during the packaging process along with retaining a copy of the serial number. The main TV damage would be to the panel usually scratched or cracked, bezel and chassis damage is generally cosmetic.
I'd still request photos and a report of the damage if you have the serial number and photos then happy days.
