Word of warning. I got so fed up with Glass technical issues is cancelled Sky TV on the basis I could use Glass TV for free view, at least. Turns out you must have a Sky subscription so I've tried to reinstate the service but 3 separate calls and still waiting. Apparently it could take 2 weeks but no firm ETA commitment. Very frustrating

Hi @Robertcg,
Sky publish information on what the TV will do without a subscription:
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-glass-without-a-subscription
I do take exception with the phrase 'works like a normal TV' as live TV is only available via apps or as @peter-marlow+1966 has suggest if you turn off the network you can access some DTT (Freeview) channels.

I left Sky last year and then rejoined. Customer service couldn't reinstate my services and it had to be referred to a back end team. It took around three working days for them to resolve and the sky sales team called back to get me upmand running again.

Have plugged an aerial into the tv disconnected it from the Internet so you can watch freeview which is what is meant to happen when the Internet goes down ?

Re: Reinstating Sky TV on Sky Glass
You must cancel your subscription but keep your sky account
this will allow you to use your tv and the apps and will also result in sky sending you a new remote
it still will not give you a feeeview tv guide unless you cut the internet connection to it

Re: Reinstating Sky TV on Sky Glass
Or use an external Freeview receiver or recorder over HDMI, which is likely to be considerably better than the DTTV tuner and EPG built-in to Glass anyway.

Good advice @TimmyBGood - I picked up a netgem 4K freeview box from eBay and inserted a spare usb stick to allow it to record ..... always good to have a plan B if the ol internet connection drops

Re: Reinstating Sky TV on Sky Glass
Within 24 hours of receiving the Sky Glass I returned it because it was far from enjoyable. I could see work arounds for the many problems if I was watching the TV but if the wife was on her own then it was a case of saying no.
That initial phone call to Sky though was all it took to reactivate my old SKY Q box

Re: Reinstating Sky TV on Sky Glass
Thanks everyone for your advice but still having to use dishes, digital ariels, free view boxes, wires etc really defeats the purpose of Glass and shows that the product is not all it's cracked up to be. Sky reinstated my tv service yesterday so only took 5 days not the 10-12 estimated. So I'll just have the wear the technical issues and pay Sky for tv until I can stomach buying another new set and go back to having the options of Stream, BT, Virgin etc.
cheers for all your suggestions.

Re: Reinstating Sky TV on Sky Glass
Hi @collinb
Yes Sky Q and Sky Glass/Stream have different activation and subscription management systems and different teams. Q uses a viewing card. The OPs question was about reactivating Glass, and for reasons unknown to us, if the customer service agent is unable to, because it's "grayed out" on their system, it has to go to a back office team for resolution.
