Puck constantly freezing ajd losing wifi connection.

Where do I start?

I got the puck a few weeks ago. For the first few days it was fine. Now, however, I'm having constant issues. Voice commands no longer processed the command, and when it does it often refers to losing wifi connection, but when I go to connection settings it seems to reconnect, as if my checking on it makes it behave lol

The general interface, tv guide, switching apps etc causes the puck to freeze, just showing tje blue background screen, or just a black background.

I have checked the software is up to date, have done numerous resets, it's a few feet away from my modem and is sitting on its own on a unit with nothing near it.

Are the pucks really this poor? I read a fair few bad reviews about it, which I accepted considering the value. But at this rate it is currentley unuseable.

Sky Stream relies entirely on a fast and stable constant connection to Sky's servers in order to function.

Check the speed the puck is actually receiving by opening the Netflix app, navigate to the get help menu and run a network check.

What speed is reported? Try doing this a few times to see if it fluctuates.

Many people get better results by connecting with an ethernet cable and turning WiFi off on the puck's network settings.

Re: Puck constantly freezing ajd losing wifi connection.

Thanks for your advice.

I've checked the network statistics, and it shows as 243Mbps.

I did forget to memtion I also frequently get an error message saying there's a technical fault.

That speed should be way more than enough for your puck to function.

It would be worth trying to connect it via ethernet though, just to rule out any stability issues with your WiFi connection. If your router is nearby connect an ethernet cable and turn WiFi off on the puck's network settings. This should give you a stable connection which will max out at 100Mbps (which is the most the puck's ethernet port will allow) but is still more than enough for the service to function.

If you still get technical fault errors when connected via ethernet then the puck may be faulty and will need to be replaced.
