Previous owners had a sky account which is stopping us from opening a new one

We recently moved house and decided to buy a sky glass tv. When we put in our address it asked us if we were the sky account holder and to enter the first two digits of the direct debit account used to pay for the sky subscription.

We've spoken to the previous owners who have said they cancelled their broadband with sky last year and have updated their address on their account.

We also called the number shown on screen underneath - if you don't have a sky account at this address please call - but as we don't have an account at any address we can not get through.

I've read other posts similar to this saying that when they called sky they weren't able to do anything and the 'account holder' has to tell them they're moved. But if the old owners have updated their address on their account is this not sufficient?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

Bit of a catch 22. You could try Sky's social media pages. Advisers on Sky's Facebook Messenger or their X feed may be able to help.
