Re: Paramount plus basic to standard
Answering my own post: It's not possible to cancel the free Paramount+, so Paramount+ is unwatchable (for me) on my TV or projector. What a ridiculous situation.

I don't understand why this thread is marked as answered when it clearly isn't

@Rich1503 Because the thread author accepted the first answer they received to the original question they asked which is their right to do so
the information within the answer to the original question is factually correct so the answer is correct

@Coys55 wrote:Of course my Paramount+ comes "free" with Sky Cinema, but now has ads so it's useless. There are some conflicting posts on this thread regarding if it's possible to cancel the free Paramount+ and then subscribe to a new account and login to that on the Sky app. Does that work or not? Or is the issue some have had that it has to be a new account (I'm not bothered about viewing history because I've hardly watched anything on it anyway).
Until Paramount offers Sky customers the ability to upgrade, the easiest way is to logout of the Paramount+ app on Sky, and login with a new different Paramount+ account with billing done directly with them. Just leave your free Sky account sitting there gathering dust.
If you want to keep your watchlist and history then unless Sky can find a way to disconnect you, you probably need to cancel Sky Cinema to make that unlink so you can setup direct billing. Then, you can resubscribe to Sky Cinema and just not redeem your Paramount+ offer with them.
None of this is justifying or explaining away why it's complicated to do this, that's between the two corporations, but I think this accurately describes the situation as us customers know it.

I've already addressed all these concerns
If Paramount don't offer the upgrade - then Sky should disengage the service free of charge.
This is a diminished service than what was signed up for - it was originally free of ads now it's riddled with ads - this is Paramount doing this - but the service I got through Sky - so I was baited in with a Sky Cinema subscription with FREE P+ with no ads - now it has ads and the service is diminished from the original contract.
Setting up new subscription is absurd solution, I have many watched shows, watch lists, and other profiles setup throughout the household and we'd all lose all our settings and shows.
This is a classic bait and switch tactic that is giving loyal subscribers to Sky a diminished service than what originally offered.
Sky customers should by all accounts have a reduction in their bill as the service has now gotten worse.
The deal was taken up wit Sky - not with Paramount+.
I've already sent a letter to newspapers and also a letter to the CPCC in Ireland and I'm waiting to hear from a supervisor from Sky.
As said already, if it's not sorted I'll take my business elsewhere and cancel Sky.
Absolutely stupid situation to LOCK customers into a tier that they never signed up for with no option to upgrade or remove it.

Paramount with adds
Can we please have a response from Sky regarding the Paramount plus subscription and why we've are not able to upgrade the paramount subscription.
There are several points that I want to raise here.
Firstly there is no option to upgrade to an add free subscription
Secondly it's not possible to remove my subscription from sky without cancelling sky cinema so I cannot even subscribe directly with paramount
Thirdly the only option I have been given is to use a different email address and sign up with paramount directly with a second subscription, but this means I lose my watch history etc. So obviously I don't want to do this
I would like to know if Sky have any intention of offering an upgrade option just like they do with Netflix
I DO NOT WANT A SUPERUSER telling me what i already know, what i have already been told by sky customer service or paramount customer service. Do not leave your opinions
Anybody else having this same problem, glady leave comments on your experiences. Sky need to know this is a problem for us and we would like official response from Sky, surely they do monitor these forums

See my earlier post - it appears Sky do intend to offer additional tiers.

Re: Paramount with adds
See my post
I do not want or need a response from a superuser that is not affiliated with sky
I am not happy that my post has been merged with a post that has been marked as answered when the question i am asking HAS NOT BEEN ANSWERED
WHY ARE YOU MOVING MY POST WHEN I REQUESTED A RESPONSE FROM SKY ASKING IF THEY HAVE PLANS TO INTRODUCE AN UPGRADE OPTION
I DO NOT WANT A SUPERUSER TO REPEAT WHAT THEY KEEP SAYING

Then you will have a long wait
the thread was moved because the response you seek relates to the discussion here, any response from Sky will be posted here for everyone to see
we don't need multiple threads on the same topic

@Rich1503 sky has actually provided an official answer on the help article they have written
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-marketplace-subscribe-to-paramount-plus
at the bottom of the second step it shows the following
This is the current official position of sky as indicated by their own official help article

Re: Paramount with adds
That's if you haven't already signed up.
This is affecting people who already had a Sky Cinema with P+ with no adverts.
Suddenly there are adverts.
There is no option for EXISTING customers to upgrade or remove it.
I confirmed this with a call with Sky myself who informed me they cannot remove it or upgrade it.
For new customers they have the option - but if the subscription is already applied you are stuck and locked in a basic package with ads.
Which is a service DOWNGRADE from ad free version we signed up for.

@hankscorpio what the agent said is probably true for now but the section of the help article isn't differentiating between the two so the options to upgrade could easily apply to existing customers as well as new in the future

It is differentiaiting - it's for new sign ups - not current sign ups.
