@Kate1962 Welcome to the forum. The following is the advice I give to people with a similar problems to yours and it often resolves the issue and if not there is a link to request a replacement.
Try to pair the remote again as follows:
- Press 7 and 9 together on your Sky remote for three seconds (This resets/clears the remote)
- Press 1 and 3 together for three seconds (bluetooth mode). A connected message should appear on your screen, press continue and it's all done.

You could also try holding the remote at both ends and giving it a gentle twist as though you were wringing out a cloth. Even though it sounds an unlikely solution it has got many faulty remotes working again (including my own).

If you are lucky enough to have one available you can use a Sky Q remote while you wait for a replacement to arrive.
